All Saints’ and All Souls’ Day Masses

EWTN All Saints’ Day is the feast of all those in heaven, known and unknown — the Church Triumphant. At 8am Sunday, the Franciscan Missionaries of the Eternal Word celebrate Mass in Our Lady of the Angels Chapel in Irondale, Ala. (Re-airs 12pm.) At 12pm Sunday, Mass is at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington. All Souls’ Day is the feast of the faithful departed who are in purgatory — the Church Suffering. At 8am Monday, the Franciscan Missionaries celebrate Mass in Our Lady of the Angels Chapel. PBS In the World War II Pacific Theater battle of Iwo Jima, Feb. 19-March 26, 1945, U.S. Marine, Navy and Army Air Corps casualties were 6,821 dead and 19,217 wounded, and the Japanese lost more than 18,000 of their 21,000 men. In this special, Lt. General Larry Snowden, USMC (Ret.), Medal of Honor recipient Hershel “Woody” Williams (USMC) and Army Air Corps fighter pilot Jerry Yellin fly to the tiny island to join Japanese veteran Tsuriji Akikusa, 89, “in a ceremony of peace and remembrance.”
