EWTN In Saints Alive! at 10:30am Sundays, canonized saints discuss present-day issues. Fathers John Trigilio and Ken Brighenti teach a Crash Course in the Saints at 5:30pm Sundays. Living the Discerning Life: The Spiritual Teaching of St. Ignatius of Loyola, at 8pm Sundays, features Oblate Father Tim Gallagher. At 11pm Sundays, Saints of China: Martyrs of the Middle Kingdom charts Catholic witness in China. Catholic Lives Ireland, at 5:30pm Mondays, features contemporary Irish “saints in the making.” In Mary, Mother of the Philippines, at 2:30am and 1:30pm Thursdays, Father Melvin Castro tours Filipino churches and shrines. At 5:30pm Fridays, in The Heavens Proclaim the Glory of God, Jesuit Father Robert Spitzer cites physical evidence and metaphysical premises for God’s existence.

PBS At 8pm, PBS Newshour will follow memorial observances at Ground Zero, the Pentagon, and in Shanksville, Pa. At 9pm, in Great Performances: A Concert for New York, taped Sept. 10, Alan Gilbert conducts the New York Philharmonic, with soprano Dorothea Röschmann, mezzo-soprano Michelle DeYoung, and the New York Choral Artists under Joseph Flummerfelt, in Mahler’s Symphony No. 2, “Resurrection.”

Pope Benedict XVI Visits Germany

EWTN On Thursday, the Pope will say Mass in Berlin’s Olympic stadium. On Friday, he will fly to Erfurt to visit St. Mary’s Cathedral and take part in ecumenical activities. At Etzelsbach, he will preside at Marian vespers. On Saturday, in Freiburg, the Holy Father will visit the cathedral, meet Orthodox clergy, seminarians and the Central Committee of German Catholics (ZDK), and hold a prayer vigil with young people.
