NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC CHANNEL Begun in 1960, the UNESCO Rescue Campaign relocated 22 ancient Egyptian temples and monuments to save them from eventual flooding when President Gamal Abdel Nasser’s Aswan Dam project (1960-1976) in Nubia, southern Egypt, would back up the Nile’s waters and create Lake Nasser.
