Sunday Night Prime With Father Benedict Groeschel
EWTN Father Groeschel of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal interviews guests, takes phone calls and discusses the Gospel, the Church and Catholic life. He co-founded his religious order and directs the Archdiocese of New York’s Office of Spiritual Development. His many books include Tears of God: Persevering in the Face of Great Sorrow or Catastrophe and Rosary: The Chain of Hope. Re-airings at 2 and 9am Mondays and 5pm Saturdays.

NBC NBC’s coverage of the XXX (30th) Summer Olympiad will begin most days at 10am. On weekends, most daily coverage will begin as early as 5am. Bravo, CNBC, MSNBC, NBC Sports Network and Telemundo (in Spanish) will also provide coverage.

The Real West: Custer and the 7th Cavalry
HISTORY This biography focuses on the character of Gen. George Armstrong Custer, his Civil War exploits and the Battle of the Little Bighorn, in which he and 267 of his troops and Indian scouts died on July 25, 1876. A re-airing. Advisory: TV-PG.

History Detectives
PBS The July 31 episode probes possibly authentic military unit patches, a piece of a Confederate battle flag, Cheyenne Indian clothing and a signed Lincoln note. Topics on the Aug. 7 show include a Titanic- or Lusitania-related item and Woolworth lunch counter signs.  Advisory: TV-PG.

NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC CHANNEL Topics include a letter seal used by Founding Father Robert Morris (1734-1806); the artist’s proof of Alfred Sealey’s engraving of George Washington for the 1896 dollar bill; and a 1776 dueling pistol.

Life on the Rock
EWTN Guest Maria Cahill spoke about the right to life during her term as Miss Delaware 2011.  She says, “Ever since I can remember, I was volunteering at pro-life events.”

TUESDAY, Aug. 7, live
Knights of Columbus Supreme Convention
EWTN The Knights of Columbus will hold their 130th national convention in Anaheim, Calif., Aug. 7-9. Tune in at 12:30pm for the opening Mass, at 4pm for Supreme Knight Carl Anderson’s annual report, and at 10:30pm for the California State Council dinner.
