Closing Mass, 2012 International Eucharistic Congress

Papal legate Cardinal Marc Ouellet will celebrate the Statio Orbis, which, the Holy See explains, is “the Eucharistic celebration at which the Pope or his legate presides as a visible expression of the universal Church’s communion.” Re-airing at midnight, followed by an episode of My Country, My Faith: Ireland hosted by Father Owen Gorman of the Diocese of Clogher, Ireland.

SUNDAY, June 17, 2pm
U.S. Open Championship

At 2pm, The 1962 U.S. Open: Jack’s First Major shows how Jack Nicklaus upset Arnold Palmer in a classic 18-hole playoff, the first of his 18 majors wins. At 3pm, Live From the U.S. Open previews today’s match. At 4pm, live, the final round of the 112th U.S. Open Championship takes place at San Francisco’s Olympic Club.

Crossing the Goal Catholic men’s ministry leaders Danny Abramowicz, Peter Herbeck, Curtis Martin and Brian Patrick employ Scripture and Catholic wisdom as tools for, as they explain, “supporting and equipping men to stand up and live the life they were called to by their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” Typical topics include virtue, spiritual workouts and spiritual combat. Re-airings at 6:30am Mondays and 9pm Thursdays.

THURSDAY, June 21, 7pm
Opening Mass, Fortnight for Freedom

EWTN Baltimore Archbishop William Lori will celebrate Mass in Baltimore’s Basilica of the National Shrine of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary to open the June 21-July 4 Fortnight for Freedom, a time in which our U.S. bishops are asking all Catholics to engage in prayer, education and action in defense of religious liberty now under government attack. Immediately after this Mass, Raymond Arroyo will host a 90-minute Special on Religious Liberty. The next morning, at 10am, Cardinal Timothy Dolan will celebrate a Mass for religious liberty in St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City.

FRIDAY, June 22, 7pm
The Link: From Waterwheels to Mega Jets
NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC CHANNEL
As host Josh Klein tours the Boeing 777 factory in Everett, Wash., to find out how it builds 100 of those giant jets a year, he looks back at Catholic monks’ industrial efficiency techniques in the Middle Ages, including their use of waterwheels and clocks.

Morristown: Where America Survived
PBS
Based on John T. Cunningham’s The Uncertain Revolution: Washington and the Continental Army (2007), this new documentary demonstrates how 10,000 American soldiers cleared 2,000 acres in the Watchung Mountains south of Morristown, N.J., and built a camp of log huts that enabled them to survive the fierce winter of 1779-1780 and resume America’s fight for independence in the spring.

Keeping Your Kids Catholic

Author Bert Ghezzi, who raised seven children with his wife, Mary Lou, discusses ways parents can help their kids love Jesus and the faith in an age of poor catechesis, secularism, paganism and Protestant encroachment. Re-airing at 5am Saturdays.
