If California is a bellwether state, marking out trends to come throughout the country, a recent survey of young people there reveals a hopeful turn of the marriage-and-family tide. In April, pollsters sponsored by New American Media found that Golden Staters between 16 and 22 years old hold more traditional values than their parents on some key issues. Their No. 1 concern is the breakdown of the family. A majority say they are religious or, at least, spiritual. And most are planning on marrying, buying homes and raising kids. California, here we come?
