Remembering a Friend

Publisher's Note

Our page-one story on Archbishop Pietro Sambi, the Vatican’s apostolic nuncio to the United States who died July 27 at the age of 73, tells the story of a man who faithfully served Our Lord and his Church for almost 50 years. But he was more than that to the EWTN family.

From the time of his arrival almost six years ago, Archbishop Sambi was a friend and supporter of the network, and we will miss him dearly. He was a man who honored his commitment to the holy priesthood and who reflected Christ. He also aided the Church in his role as papal ambassador to the United States and through his recommendations to Pope Benedict of men suited to serve the Church as bishops.

I hope that you will join me in praying for the repose of the soul of Archbishop Pietro Sambi.

God bless!
