Catholics have always turned instinctively for help to the Mother of God in times of need. And so, in 2012, we turn to Our Lady for help. Many of the values that shaped our country from the beginning seem to be at risk. Pope Benedict XVI and the American bishops have noted the erosion of religious freedom in the United States, the first value guaranteed by the Constitution.
The "Novena to the Mother of God for the Nation" on pages C1-C4 will remind us of some of the central truths of the faith, in particular, the incarnation, passion, death and resurrection of the Lord and Mary’s unique role in our salvation. It will be, in a way, a catechism lesson that challenges us to a deeper conversion to Christ and a more generous life of charity.
The proximity of the novena to the 2012 presidential election will also offer an opportunity to pray for all of our government officials and seek divine assistance in the elections.

I have looked over the linked novena, and my comment is: How beautiful! and how necessary!
Conscious for many, many months of the tremendous need for prayers for our country, I have been longing to come across a prayer like this, and now we have it. Thank you, Register!
The Father?
How about going into your inner room, closing the door, and being with the Father God who knows all our needs before we ask? Isn’t that what Jesus said? Didn’t he also say not to babble like the pagans?
It amazes me that Catholics do turn to Mary, like children. Yet, Jesus (our one Advocate), the Holy Spirit (who is supposed to be leading the Church) & God the Father (He that answers Prayer) are out of the picture.
What a shame that in prayer, Catholics continually alienate fellow conservative Christians of like-mind, like those in my own family of origin, that pray to God alone & not to Mary or any otherwise designated saint. Why can’t Catholics be sensitive to non-Catholic CHRISTIANS?
Why must Catholics always exclude themselves, huddling together, and strong-arming others out of the huddle, unless they pray rote prayers, led by the Catholics. It’s a pity. Our nation is at a crossroads. Christians should be praying together, and to our Father.
Thank you for this novena. Only problem is that when I print it the type is just too tiny to read. Please reformat! I’d like to have it on paper so I don’t have to sit at my computer each day.
DEMISE OF TRUTH
In the modern world, truth is now seriously maligned,
while error is ever increasingly wrongly defined.
Evil is being whitewashed with an aura of good and right,
while moral values and principles are driven from sight.
A nation once endowed with God-given rights has lost trust,
and is now enamored with greed, licentiousness, and lust.
Americans must again honor our religious goal.
Our intended role was once to save our Immortal Soul.
A nation without God does not have our salvation in sight.
Religious freedom was once our inalienable right.
Let the God we once trusted again be our loyal guide.
Voters must ensure the leaders now in charge are defied.
Ruled by Socialism, a nation faces grief and woe.
That history has always revealed failure we know.
The Party of Life will gain the Republic intended.
The Party of Death means life is no longer defended.
The next election will bring final defeat or survival.
The Republic must depend on voters for revival.
If the current regime is not deposed, what will that cost?
Our nation and religious freedom will surely be lost.

For the anti-Mary comments, yes we do turn to Mary, she is our mother and our advocate. She is your mother too. We do not ignore Our Lord but why would we NOT ask our mother for help?
We do NOT babble. Please take your negativity to your own church and give us the liberty to do as we want.
If you feel alienated that is your issue not ours.
I am a Catholic covert and I LOVE Mary and the role she has in the church and my life. I feel so blessed.
Please send me the prayer to ensure Obama is defeated
