‘Love Is Our Mission’

Highlights of the Papal Trip to America

)

During Pope Francis’ first trip to the United States, and the 10th time a pope has visited, the Holy Father will visit the White House, pray with bishops, canonize Junípero Serra, address Congress and the United Nations and visit iconic churches and places of history, as well as Catholic Charities, a seminary and a prison.

Pope Francis will also pray at Ground Zero, spend time with Catholic-school students and celebrate Mass at New York’s Madison Square Garden and a Philadelphia parkway to conclude the World Meeting of Families.

While at Philadelphia’s Independence Hall, the Holy Father will speak at the same lectern as President Abraham Lincoln did when he delivered the Gettysburg Address in 1863. The trip will be conducted mostly in Spanish, although he will speak in English during his congressional speech.

Welcome, Pope Francis, to America!
