Christ Is Risen, Alleluia!

Publisher's Note

As we celebrate the joy of Easter, we mark the pinnacle of our faith: Christ’s resurrection. Our joy is made even more full by the canonizations of Pope John XXIII and Pope John Paul II on Divine Mercy Sunday, April 27.

With that in mind, I call your attention to our special six-page commemorative section marking the canonizations — "John Paul II and John XXIII: Papal Saints for the New Evangelization."

Each of the stories we have selected reflects the heroic sanctity lived out by these two holy men.

Pope John Paul was an artist and theologian who inspired countless people to "be not afraid" to pursue their vocation in life — whether to marriage, the priesthood or religious life. Pope John was a warm, loving soul with a deep faith who convened the Second Vatican Council to build Church unity. And both men were prolific writers during their papacies and unabashedly devoted to the Rosary.

I hope you find the special insert illuminating — and that our Church’s newest saints will be an inspiration for you always. Very soon, you and I can say, "St. John XXIII, pray for us; St. John Paul II, pray for us!"

A blessed Easter to you all!
