On Bearing Christ’s Cross In New York

New York is not often considered a place of pilgrimage. Author Peter Kreeft is fond of remarking that if God does not destroy New York, He will have to issue an apology to Sodom.

Perhaps so. But last year I celebrated the Paschal Triduum in New York and found it a marvelous place to do so. For in New York, the Cross of Christ must be chosen very deliberately amongst the competing distractions....
