The One True Faith

FAMILYLAND TV As the Vatican II document Lumen Gentium (Light of the Nations) says, “For it is through Christ’s Catholic Church alone, which is the universal help toward salvation, that the fullness of the means of salvation can be obtained (267).” At 11 p.m. Mondays, 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays and 1 a.m. Thursdays, learn more about our one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church and her founding by Jesus.

Images of Mary

CATHOLICTV At 1 a.m. Tuesdays, noon Wednesdays and 5:30 a.m. Thursdays, Norbertine Father Alfred McBride cites his 1999 book Images of Mary as he discusses 10 loving portrayals of the Blessed Virgin Mary by artists through the ages and explains what the Church teaches us about the Mother of God.


SUNDAY, 8 p.m.

Nature: Why We Love Cats and Dogs

PBS Estimates are that Americans own 90 million cats and 73 million dogs. This show analyzes the traits of cat lovers and dog lovers by interviewing pet owners, trainers, animal behaviorists and psychologists. Advisory: TV-PG.


MONDAY, 9 p.m.

Stealing Lincoln’s Body

HISTORY In 1876, counterfeiters from Chicago plotted to steal the body of President Abraham Lincoln and hold it in exchange for a ransom of $200,000 and the release of their leader from prison. The Secret Service foiled their plans. Advisory: TV-PG.


MONDAY-FRIDAY, 3 a.m., 6:30 p.m.

Speaking of Saints

EWTN In these five daily episodes, Catholic author, artist and lecturer Susan Conroy covers Blessed Mother Teresa’s faith, love, humility, suffering and holiness. In 1986 and again in 1991, Conroy volunteered at Mother Teresa’s home for the dying in Calcutta. She wrote a book, Mother Teresa’s Lessons of Love and Secrets of Sanctity.


THURSDAY, 7 p.m.

Known Universe

NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC CHANNEL Tonight’s three 60-minute episodes of this science series explore the origin of universe, the factors of speed in it and the largest and smallest objects in existence.


FRIDAY, 4 p.m.

African Americans in World War II

HISTORY At 4 p.m., a Dogfights episode follows the exploits of the Tuskegee Airmen, an all-black U.S. fighter squadron. At 5 p.m., First to Fight: The Black Tankers of WWII charts the history of the all-black 761st Tank Battalion. Advisory: TV-PG.


SATURDAY, 8 p.m.

Son Maryam

EWTN This new hour-long show is a “poignant story about the friendship between a Muslim adolescent and an elderly Catholic priest” in Iran.
