A new national poll commissioned by
Parade magazine shows that American marriages aren’t doing so badly,
after all. An impressive 71% of respondents cited “deep love” as the main
reason they have stayed together, and fully half described their unions as
“loving and joyful.” Nearly 70% of the men said they never think about leaving
their wives. There were a few downsides, too, of course — but, considering that
a whopping 88% said they were happy or reasonably content with their marriage,
why dwell on the negative?
