Popular Rachael Ray uses her Mom’s favorite recipes to make spaghetti, roasted sausage with peppers and onions in wine and “cheesy bread” with black pepper. WEDNESDAY, 9 p.m. Lost Worlds: Taj Mahal DISCOVERY CHANNEL India’s fifth Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan (1592-1666), used 20,000 workers and 1,000 elephants to construct the Taj Mahal and surrounding buildings in the city of Agra as a mausoleum for his favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal, after she died in 1631. In this program, “historical detectives” investigate the architecture, engineering and extent of the original Taj Mahal complex. Advisory: TV-PG. FRIDAY, 11:30 a.m. Novena to the Immaculate Conception FAMILYLAND TV Starting today, join in this daily novena leading up to the feast of the Immaculate Conception on Dec. 8. FRIDAY, 7 p.m. Modern Marvels: Camouflage HISTORY CHANNEL This look at the history and current status of camouflage tells us that this military art took off in World War I as a way to hide ground forces from aircraft. SATURDAY, 12:30 p.m. The Victory Garden: Provence PBS First aired 10 years ago, this show sent Adrian Bloom to southern France to visit La Casella, the estate of Claus Scheinert, and its Italian cypresses, terraced landscapes and “plantings used as architecture.” SATURDAY, 8 p.m. Celtic Woman: A Christmas Celebration PBS Many PBS stations (check your local listings) kick off their December pledge drive with this special from Dublin by the Irish singing group Celtic Woman.
