EWTN's Colin Donovan and Columnist John Grondelski
BY Tim Drake
On today’s Register Radio, EWTN’s own vice president of theology, Colin Donovan joins us to provide a kind of Advent 101. Colin looks at the history of Advent, offers suggestions for how to observe the season, explains why Advent is penitential, and shares the significance of Gaudete Sunday (the third Sunday of Advent). For an informative look at Advent, listen to the show.
In our second half, National Catholic Register columnist John Grondelski talks about the lessons, particularly the life-affirming lessons, of the Christmas classics “A Christmas Carol” and “It’s a Wonderful Life.” Grondelski says that the message is one that runs counter to the prevailing “quality of life ethic” popularized by the media today. He also shares which version of “A Christmas Carol” is his favorite and why. To find out which one it is listen to Register Radio this afternoon at 2 p.m. Eastern on EWTN’s radio affiliates, or you can download the podcast here.
