Your Pentecost Boost

It’s back. Generous donors will double all donations made before Pentecost, up to $10,000.
That’s perfect.
We need a new Pentecost more than ever, and Pope Benedict XVI invoked his authority as Successor of St. Peter to call down the Holy Spirit on America last year … but only the Register seemed to notice.
In Washington, Benedict said:
“In the excercise of my ministry as the Sucessor of Peter, I have come to America to confirm you, my brothers and sisters ... and to implore from the Lord a new outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon the Church in this country.”
At the first Pentecost, apostles went from hiding and discouraged to courageous and hope-filled. History changed.
The same thing can happen in America.
A new springtime is more than possible. It’s to be expected ... “IF,” as Pope John Paul II used to say, if Catholics cooperate with the Holy Spirit.
Does it all depend on whether or not you give money to the Register? Certainly not.
But it does mean that we each have to become actively engaged in the New Evangelization. The Register exists to show you how to do that.
We’re also the ones doing the hard journalistic work to warn and inform about: the new hate crimes bill, the conscience clause promises and counter promises from the administration, the victories in the marriage battle, and much more.
You won’t find those stories elsewhere ... just as you didn’t hear about Pope Benedict’s extraordinary Pentecost prayer elsewhere.
But the reality is that we are in tough times. Very tough times. The Register has endured cuts and layoffs and belt-tightening. We need your help to continue doing what we do.
