Yesterday, a Daily Blog post reported about the idea of giving up social networking for Lent.

Here’s an idea about what to do with some of the online time that would be freed up by that online sacrifice — make regular visits to the Lenten website of the U.S. bishops.

The site contains a variety of text resources as well as audio/visual resources provided by the Catholic Communication Campaign. It is organized in accordance with the “four pillars,” which highlight “What we believe,” “What we celebrate,” “How we live” and “How we pray.”

Video resources include a meditation on the crucified Christ and one on Michelangelo’s “The Pietá,” which is embedded at the start of this post.

Also available on the site is an audio podcast based on the Stations of the Cross celebrated by Pope John Paul II on Good Friday 1991.
