Joking Around at the Al Smith
Friday, October 17, 2008 11:01 AM
As expected, the archdiocese of New York’s Al Smith Dinner took place last night with a minimum of controversy.
In their remarks at the annual fundraising event, however, John McCain and Barack Obama did inject some welcome humor into the final days of this year’s presidential campaign.
The consensus of Catholic bloggers as to which candidate appeared to have the better stand-up comedy... READ MORE

Saturday, November 08, 2008 4:31 AM
Here’s Gandalf with an alternate take on the election results, as regards the right-to-life battle.

Friday, November 21, 2008 1:54 PM
Maria Shriver, wife of California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, isn’t shy about the fact that she’s a dissenting Catholic.
And the Kennedy family member isn’t apologetic about it either.
“I have a dispute with a lot in the Catholic Church,” a smiling Shriver says in this Nov. 14 interview with The Washington Post’s Sally Quinn. The video recording of the interview, which is posted... READ MORE

Mother Teresa’s Catholicism
Friday, November 21, 2008 2:05 PM
The last Daily Blog featured one model of a modern Catholic woman.
The video above features a very different one — the model of radical love and fidelity to Christ and to all of the Church’s teachings that Blessed Teresa of Calcutta manifested throughout her saintly life.
