The Daily Blog said this about Democratic politician Al Franken in a post on Election Day:
“If any political candidate in this year’s elections can be fairly accused of harboring deep-seated prejudice against the Church, it’s Al Franken.”

Brownback to Leave Senate

U.S. Sen. Sam Brownback, R-Kans., is a man of his word.
Brownback announced today that he will not seek re-election to the Senate in 2010, honoring a pledge he made early in his political career to make term limits for political office-holders a priority.
Brownback was elected to the Senate in 1996 to fill the seat vacated when Bob Dole ran for president. He was re-elected in 1998 and 2004.... READ MORE

Republican Saxby Chambliss won yesterday’s U.S. Senate run-off election in Georgia, denying the Democratic Party an opportunity of securing a 60-seat Senate “supermajority.”
But any additional Republican losses in 2010 could tip the Senate into a filibuster-proof Democratic chamber that would have free rein to pass anti-life legislation such as the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA).

Voters are now going to the polls in today’s U.S. Senate runoff election in Georgia.
With a Democratic victory by challenger Jim Martin over incumbent Republican Sen. Saxby Chambliss possibly resulting in a filibuster-proof Senate majority for the Dems, the runoff election has major national implications.
