CNN reported yesterday that the Senate Finance Committee, which is negotiating the Senate version of the health-care reform bill, is considering the inclusion of language specifying that the provisions of the bill are prohibited from funding abortion services.

According to The Boston Globe, former Boston Red Sox ace Curt Schilling is contemplating a run for the vacant U.S. Senate seat in Massachusetts previously held by the late Sen. Edward Kennedy.

Thirty-seven U.S. senators have sent a letter to Vietnam’s president appealing for the release of Father Thadeus Nguyen Van Ly, who is serving a 13-year jail term in Vietnam.

Al Franken, the Democratic comedian-turned-politician who has a long history of anti-Catholic diatribes, was today declared the winner of the disputed 2008 U.S. Senate race in Minnesota by the state’s Supreme Court.

Yesterday the Daily Blog noted the discouraging reality that 16 Catholic U.S. senators last week voted against legislation to enhance conscience protections for pro-life medical personnel.
