Could G.K. Chesterton be declared a Saint?
If a group of Chesterton scholars meeting at Oxford next month has their way, the British journalist and convert G.K. Chesterton’s Cause could be taken up by the Church.
According to a story that originally appeared in the UK Catholic Herald, Chesterton biographer William Oddie will bring the subject up at the conference on July 4th.

One of the five new saints canonized yesterday by Pope Benedict XVI was St. Nuno de Santa Maria Alvares Pereira.
The new saint should provide pause for reflection for those who believe falsely that Christianity isn’t a religion that has much appeal to the masculine nature. And, equally, for those who believe falsely that military service isn’t compatible with a noble Christian faith.

Those who dispute the power of Catholic sacramentals will be interested in the tale of how the holy card (pictured) was the seedbed for this Lutheran’s conversion to the Catholic Church and work as a Catholic journalist. The feast of St. Joseph is the perfect day to recount the story.

Elizabeth Lev’s weekly column for Zenit highlights a Roman way of celebrating All Saints Day: racing from church to church to raise money for charity.
More than 2,000 participants took off from St. Peter’s Square early on the morning of Nov. 1, competing in the 10-kilometer race to several major Christian sites in the Eternal City.

And no, it’s not Blessed Teresa of Calcutta.
Pope Benedict XVI canonized Sister Alphonsa Bharanangnam at a Mass today in St. Peter’s Square.
She was one of four new saints proclaimed today by the Pope. The others include Italian priest Father Gaetano Errico, Sister Maria Bernarda, a Swiss-born nun, and Ecuadoran laywoman Narcisa de Jesus Martillo Moran.
