Dolan Joins N.Y. Marriage Fight

In one of his first actions as the archbishop of New York, Archbishop Timothy Dolan has joined with the state’s other bishops in opposing a state bill that would legalize same-sex “marriage.”
The bill was introduced today by New York Gov. David Paterson.

Pope Benedict XVI has named Archbishop Timothy Dolan as the new archbishop of New York.
Go here to read a Catholic News Service article about the appointment of Archbishop Dolan, who served as archbishop of Milwaukee from 2002 until today’s appointment. From 1994-2001, he served as rector of the Pontifical North American College in Rome.

Another sign that the sacrament of reconciliation is making a comeback. The Archdiocese of New York is planning “24 Hours of Confession” in conjuction with the Cathedral of St. Patrick Young Adults during Lent.

Over at the Newsmax website, Edward Pentin offers some interesting speculation out of Rome: The upcoming announcement of a new Archbishop of New York.
According to the report, Pope Benedict XVI has picked a replacement and will make an announcement within a week.
