We compiled the most complete set of numbers I’ve seen of non-D.C. 2009 pro-life rallies marking Roe v. Wade. (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) to report your own city’s rally (give name, city, state, rally name & date, number participants).

So far, I have 60,000 pro-lifers rallying, state by state:

ALASKA
In Anchorage, 100 people participated in a prayer... READ MORE

‘We Need Change Now!’

Now that the video is available, we repost our item on Pastor Luke Robinson’s stirring words at the March for Life. (Hat tip for video to Faith & Family Live!)

Black pastor Luke Robinson just delivered a impassioned appeal at the March for Life, asking President Barack Obama to intervene to halt the slaughter of unborn babies.

“Every day people of your ethnic background and of my ethnic... READ MORE

Top 10 March Observations

Posted by Tom Hoopes

Saturday, January 24, 2009 8:00 AM

I was going to call this “Random March Observations,” but the Top 10 tag makes it look more official.

10. DANGEROUS SIGN. One woman held a sign that said “Pro-Life Obama Voter.” I wanted to suggest to her that “Pro-Lifers for FOCA” made about as much sense. But I worried about her when I saw, coming up behind her in the crowd, the guy with the “Adolf Obama” sign …

9. REPHRASE... READ MORE

Why So Very Catholic?

As I said Thursday, the March for Life was dominated by Catholics. The question arises: Why? You can’t blame the organizers. They stocked the stage with non-Catholics. Here are some theories:

1. Maybe evangelical Protestants are spooked by the Catholic doings at the March. Everywhere you looked, you saw pictures of Our Lady in full European devotional regalia. Many marchers prayed the Rosary.... READ MORE

Pro-life marchers appeal to President Obama. (CNS)

The Daily Blog wondered earlier today whether President Barack Obama would take note of the 2009 March for Life in Washington, D.C.

Later in the day, he did — in an oblique and distinctly unsupportive manner.

“On the 36th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, we are reminded that this decision not only protects women’s health and reproductive freedom, but stands for a broader principle: that... READ MORE

A Very Catholic March

Register Executive Editor Tom Hoopes is blogging live from today’s March for Life in Washington, D.C.

One can’t help but notice the prevalence of religion at the March.

Each religion seems to be here, and each showing itself in its quintessential form.

The rally began with a prayer by a Lutheran of the Missouri School Synod, and his prayer was matter-of-fact and thorough, like the... READ MORE

Marchers on Obama

Post-inauguration tidying up today on the Mall in Washington, D.C.

Register Executive Editor Tom Hoopes is blogging live from today’s March for Life in Washington, D.C.

As pro-life marchers fill the Mall, clean-up continues for that other event here this week — the inauguration of Barack Obama.

It made me wonder: What do today’s marchers think of Tuesday’s crowd?

I was surprised at the good will I found.

I spoke with Gary Sarnoff of Arlington, Va.... READ MORE
