The annual three-day convention of the Knights of Columbus concludes today in Phoenix.
Featured speakers at the convention include American Cardinal William Levada, prefect of the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith, and Cardinal Francis George of Chicago, president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. Knight Fights Somali Pirates

Francis Castellano is the commanding officer of the destroyer USS Bainbridge, which led the Navy rescue operation that freed Capt. Richard Phillips from Somali pirates on Easter Sunday.
Cmdr. Castellano is also a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
And the man whose rescue he coordinated, Capt. Phillips, is a fellow Catholic, as reported here on the Daily Blog on Easter Monday.

Friday was the feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe, patroness of the unborn and of the Americas.
Zenit reported that on Friday 6 million people visited Mexico City’s Basilica of Our Lady in Guadalupe, where the famous tilma with the image of her apparition to St. Juan Diego in 1531 is kept.

California voters are poised to approve Proposition 8, amending their state constitution to define marriage as a one-man, one-woman institution.
Returns compiled as of 5 a.m. today California time showed the Yes side leading 52%-48%, with 91% of precincts supporting.
