The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops has released a video on YouTube urging preservation of the legal definition of marriage as between one man and one woman.
“Marriage is not something we invent or change to suit our own purposes,” Archbishop Joseph Kurtz of Louisville, Ky., chairman of the U.S. bishops’ committee to defend marriage, explains in the video.

For the second time this year, a state supreme court has pre-empted the democratic process by ordering the legalization of same-sex “marriage.”

There a signs of a big pro-marriage shift in California.
The Yes side is surging ahead in the campaign over the state’s Proposition 8, a ballot initiative to amend the state constitution to define marriage as a one-man, one-woman institution.
A poll conducted Oct. 4-5 by four California TV stations found the Yes side ahead 47%-42%, the San Jose Mercury News reported Oct. 7.
