While members of Congress continue to debate whether to include a “public option” health-care plan in a national health system, the Catholic Medical Association has called for a “reset” of the entire effort.
The CMA, meeting in Springfield, Ill., for their 78th annual general assembly, issued a resolution Oct. 23 calling on Congress to “begin the process anew.”

Catholic Charities Lands $100 Million Contract

According to Catholic News Service, Catholic Charities USA has landed a five-year federal contract worth potentially more than $100 million.
The contract with the Department of Health and Human Services is the first the agency has received from the federal government. The monies will be used in Catholic Charities’ natural disaster relief work.
