U.S. bishops' anti-FOCA poster

President Barack Obama said yesterday at a White House press conference that passage of the Freedom of Choice Act “is not my highest legislative priority.”

This is welcome news and testimony to the success of the U.S. bishops in mobilizing Catholics and other Americans to oppose the abortion lobby’s draconian FOCA legislation.

However, while Obama’s comment yesterday represents a... READ MORE

Pro-Life E-mail Campaign

Anti-FOCA poster distributed by AUL Action.

The U.S. bishops’ conference is augmenting its pro-life postcard campaign by launching an e-mail initiative urging Congress to oppose abortion and retain pro-life policies.

Like the postcard campaign, the e-mail campaign is being coordinated through the USCCB’s partner organization, the National Committee for a Human Life Amendment (NCHLA).

The e-mails urge a constituent’s Senators and... READ MORE

The U.S. bishops are sponsoring a massive postcard campaign to persuade Congress to retain pro-life policies and to oppose the funding and promotion of abortion.

Information about the campaign can be found by visiting www.usccb.org/prolife.

The postcard campaign has actually been underway for some time, and Tom Hoopes noted its existence at the end of this Daily Blog entry last month.

Stealth FOCA. Piecemeal FOCA. Mini-FOCAs. Faux FOCA.

Pro-abortion activists are making plans to pass FOCA in bits and pieces, buried in other bills where it will be unnoticed (and give cover to pro-abortion Catholics afraid of getting called on it). We need to find a moniker to flag these attempts, and draw the full wrath of the anti-FOCA movement to bear against each one.

FOCA fake-outs? FOCA... READ MORE

Should Catholics Fear FOCA?

Anti-FOCA ad released by the U.S. bishops.

Catholic Obama backer Doug Kmiec recently penned an article for Commonweal complaining he has become the target of uncharitable invective from “right-wing Catholic bloggers.”

The Pepperdine law professor says unfair attacks are being directed at him because of his advocacy for the pro-abortion Obama. And, he suggests, the vituperation is so extreme it could injure relations between the Holy... READ MORE

Forceful on FOCA

Bishop Paul Loverde of Arlington, Va., had this to say last week about his response if the abortion lobby’s Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) becomes law:

“I would say, ‘Yeah, I’m not going to close the hospital, you’re going to arrest me, go right ahead. You’ll have to drag me out, go right ahead. I’m not closing this hospital, we will not perform abortions, and you can go take a... READ MORE

What Catholics Can Expect

Share

George Marlin at The Catholic Thing offers a helpful bullet pointed list of what Catholics can expect in the next four years (and I quote):

• The executive ban on funding abortions in U.S. overseas health agencies will be eliminated.
• The executive order barring federal financing of embryo stem-cell research will be eliminated.
• Culture-of-death judges who believe in a “living... READ MORE
