Oct. 13 marks the 92nd anniversary of the famous final apparition of the Virgin Mary at Fátima, Portugal, in 1917.
This year, the date has an additional significance: It marks the formal release in the United States of a new and highly acclaimed movie about Fátima, The 13th Day.

Pope to Visit Fatima

According to Rome Reports, Pope Benedict XVI will visit Fatima next year.
The Pope’s visit in May to the Portuguese shrine is likely to take place on May 13, 2010 — the 93rd anniversary of the Virgin Mary’s first appearance to three shepherd children, Lucia, Jacinta, and Francisco.

That might seem to be a far-fetched headline.
But according to Pope John Paul II’s former secretary, Cardinal Stanislaw Dziwisz, John Paul was indeed wounded by a knife-wielding deranged priest when he visited Fatima, Portugal, in 1982.
