Here’s a brief video recap of the recent news that Pope Benedict XVI has recognized a miracle attributed to the intercession of Cardinal John Henry Newman.

The miracle involves the medically inexplicable healing of a debilitating back ailment that afflicted Deacon Jack Sullivan, a permanent deacon who lives in Marshfield, Mass.

The Vatican announced today that Pope Benedict XVI has promulgated a decree regarding a miracle attributed to the intercession of Cardinal Newman.

A papal decree announcing the beatification of Cardinal John Henry Newman is imminent and will most likely be made before the Vatican closes for its summer break in August, the Register has learned.

Officials at the Birmingham Oratory in England have announced that the body of Cardinal John Henry Newman will be exhumed in advance of his possible beatification.

The body of the famous 19th-century Anglican convert will lie in state at the Birmingham Oratory Oct. 31-Nov. 1.

It will be reburied Nov. 2.
