Holocaust-denying Bishop Richard Williamson has been removed from his position as director of a Society of St. Pius X seminary in Argentina.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s very public criticism of Pope Benedict XVI’s decision to lift the excommunication of Bishop Richard Williamson took the Vatican by surprise.
Merkel’s move has also been roundly condemned by some German bishops.

Rabbinate Retains Vatican Ties

Contrary to many press reports, the Chief Rabbinate of Israel has not cut ties with the Vatican over the lifting of the excommunication of Bishop Richard Williamson.
The director general of the organization, Oded Wiener, sent a letter Jan. 27 to Cardinal Walter Kasper, president of the Vatican Commission for Religious Relations with Jews.
