YouTube’s Double Standard?

Friday, September 26, 2008 11:47 AM

An anti-Catholic bias appears to be in place at the popular YouTube Internet video site.

The Headline Bistro news service reported Sept. 26 that “outrage is growing as the site has become home to a string of videos depicting acts of Eucharistic desecration, including flushing a host down the toilet, putting one in a blender, feeding one to animals, shooting one with a nail gun and... Catholics watching tonight’s presidential debate should pay close attention if the topic of health-care reform comes up.

Why?

Not just because Democratic candidate Sen. Barack Obama has made the issue a central campaign plank.

But Obama may also intend to use health-care reform as a vehicle to mandate abortion access, according to the Weekly Standard’s blog.

The blog cites comments... READ MORE

Barack Obama and John McCain touched on a topic in last night’s presidential debate about which the Church is the leading expert: Just War doctrine.

He might find it harder to dismiss the arguments of one other prominent Catholic: himself.

In this entry on his Catholic Key blog, Jack... READ MORE

National Right to Life ad.

’Fess up, Sen. Obama.

The National Right to Life Committee is demanding a public apology from the Democratic presidential candidate for accusing the pro-life group in August of “lying” about his voting record regarding “born-alive” legislation.

Such legislation mandates provision of medical care for babies who survive abortions.

In an extensively documented exposé posted on the... READ MORE

Weigel vs. Kmiec et al

Wednesday, October 15, 2008 6:44 AM

George Weigel (CNS)

George Weigel has provided a detailed rebuttal to recent arguments by some avowedly pro-life Catholics that it’s OK to vote for Sen. Barack Obama.

In a Newsweek commentary posted Oct. 14, the papal biographer and syndicated columnist critiques arguments advanced by three prominent Obama apologists: law professors Doug Kmiec, Nicholas Cafardi and Cathleen Kaveny.

Space doesn’t allow us to... READ MORE

But What About This, Barack?

Thursday, October 16, 2008 8:18 AM

(AFP)

Sen. Barack Obama finally touched on abortion in the presidential debates last evening.

In last night’s debate, the Democratic presidential candidate glossed over his consistent support for abortion rights, his promise to sign into law the abortion lobby’s Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) legislation as his first act if elected president, and his commitment to nominate only pro-abortion judges to...
