Bishops Weigh In

Not long after Nancy Pelosi unveiled the 1,990-page House health-care reform bill Oct. 29, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops issued an urgent call to arms.

Another Kind of Public Option

While members of Congress continue to debate whether to include a “public option” health-care plan in a national health system, the Catholic Medical Association has called for a “reset” of the entire effort.
The CMA, meeting in Springfield, Ill., for their 78th annual general assembly, issued a resolution Oct. 23 calling on Congress to “begin the process anew.”

The 40 Days for Life Fall 2009 campaign is coming to a close this Sunday, and the Register will have a wrap-up on it in its Nov. 8 edition.

Try as it may, Spain’s Socialist government cannot extinguish the faith of its people.
The Christian Post reported that an estimated 1 million people took to the streets of Madrid to protest Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero’s bill that would allow unrestricted abortion at up to 14 weeks of pregnancy and allow girls age 16 and 17 to abort their children without parental consent.
