Name the FOCA Fake-Outs

Stealth FOCA. Piecemeal FOCA. Mini-FOCAs. Faux FOCA.

Pro-abortion activists are making plans to pass FOCA in bits and pieces, buried in other bills where it will be unnoticed (and give cover to pro-abortion Catholics afraid of getting called on it). We need to find a moniker to flag these attempts, and draw the full wrath of the anti-FOCA movement to bear against each one.

FOCA fake-outs? FOCA feigns?

Whatever the name, NCHLA.org provides a new e-mail campaign that your whole family can participate in. Did you already send your FOCA postcards? Did your kids? They can too — as constituents, even if they aren’t voters. And you each can follow-up with an e-mail.

The NCHLA.org E-mail says:

“At this time of serious national challenges, Americans should unite to serve the good of all, born and unborn.

“The Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA), the most radical and divisive pro-abortion bill ever introduced in Congress, would create a “fundamental right” to abortion that government could not limit but would have to support. FOCA would overturn many existing widely-supported policies, including laws protecting parental involvement and conscience rights and those preventing partial-birth abortion and taxpayer funding of abortion.

“Please oppose FOCA or any similar measure.

“Also, please retain existing laws against funding and promotion of abortion.  It is especially important that Congress retain these laws in the various appropriations bills, e.g., the Hyde Amendment in the Labor/Health and Human Services appropriations bill.
“As your constituent, I would appreciate a response telling me how you would vote on these matters”

So, in the e-mail, to flag FOCA fake-outs, they go with: “FOCA or any similar measure.”

That’s fine, but it isn’t memorable and punchy.

Pieces of FOCA? FOCA-chips? Weasel FOCA?
