A Minnesota court has ruled in favor of awarding victory to Democratic candidate Al Franken in last fall’s disputed U.S. Senate race in that state.

Franken has a long history of nasty anti-Catholic diatribes, as first reported on the Daily Blog here.

Yesterday, a three-judge panel of state judges declared Franken had won the most votes in the disputed election against incumbent Republican Sen. Norm Coleman, Associated Press reported.

But Coleman immediately announced plans to appeal the decision to the Minnesota Supreme Court. Coleman says the recount procedures were inconsistent and were applied unfairly against him.

Certification of Franken as the formal winner of the election is on hold, pending Coleman’s appeal.
