Catholic Raven Flying High

Today is the first day of the NFL playoffs.

One of the teams playing this weekend is the Baltimore Ravens, who earned a wild-card berth under the leadership of their first-year coach John Harbaugh, who is Catholic. They play the AFC East champion Miami Dolphins tomorrow at 1 p.m. Eastern time in Miami.

We tried to contact Coach Harbaugh earlier this week, hoping to ask him how integrates his lively Catholic faith with the round-the-clock gridiron responsibilities of an NFL sideline general.

The Ravens’ director of media relations, Chad Steele, informed us that Harbaugh is just too busy to speak with the Daily Blog right now, and he graciously suggested we call back after the team’s season is over. We intend to.

In the meantime, here’s a link to a recent article about Harbaugh in The Catholic Review, the archdiocese of Baltimore’s newspaper.
