A New Year of Marches for Life

It’s now January, and for pro-lifers that means one thing: Preparations are in full swing for America’s annual Marches for Life.

Out in San Francisco, Walk for Life West Coast has introduced a new, high-profile approach to getting the pro-life message out in advance of the Jan. 24 San Francisco Walk for Life.

A 20-foot-by-60-foot “Abortion Hurts Women” billboard is now on display near the approach to one of the nation’s busiest bridges, the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge.

Each day more than 100,000 cars will drive past the billboard, which includes the phone number of a post-abortion help line.

In Kansas, pro-lifers launched a website for their 2008 Pro Life Signature-Ad. Notable signers of the ad include: Bishop Paul Coakley of Salina, Kan.; Bishop Alvaro Corrada del Rio of Tyler, Texas; Bishop Victor Galeone of St. Augustine, Fla.; Bishop Ronald Gilmore of Dodge City, Kan.; Bishop Sam Jacobs of Houma-Thibodaux, La.; Alveda King, niece of Martin Luther King; Norma McCorvey, plaintiff in the 1973 Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion; former Arkansas. Gov. Mike Huckabee; and former U.S. Rep. Jim Ryun, the former world-record holder in the mile.

The biggest organizational effort of all is happening in Washington, D.C., where the national March for Life will take place Jan. 22 on the 36th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision. Go here to learn more about the preparations for this year’s March.

The March for Life will take place only two days after President-elect Barack Obama is inaugurated. And pro-lifers across the nation intend to use the occasion to express to their new president their unflagging determination to stand up in defense of the innocent and defenseless unborn children whose lives are being lost because of the legalization of abortion.
