Benedict: U.S. Catholic colleges should follow the Magisterium in "all aspects of an institution’s life."(cns)

The Associated Press is reporting that President Barack Obama will deliver the commencement address at Notre Dame on May 17.

Pro-life Catholics have set up a protest website. The U.S. bishops in their 2004 document “Catholics in Political Life” say “Catholic institutions should not honor those who act in defiance of our fundamental moral principles. They should not be given awards, honors, or platforms that would suggest support for their actions.”

Fort Wayne-South Bend Bishop John M. D’Arcy has been critical of Obama’s efforts against the right to life.

He also has on several occasions called Notre Dame to task for its activities on campus.

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said Friday that Obama will also speak at Arizona State University on May 13 and the U.S. Naval Academy on May 22.
