Mary did not go with oils etc to the tomb because she knew her Son, and she believed what He had told her…ie she knew He was NOT there. Of course He saw her first. Think about it…who would you see first? “Mom, it’s Me.” “I know, Son.”

Take a look at the article ... “He appeared first to Mary Magdalene” (Mark 16:9) ... every Church Father (including St. Ambrose) seems to have presumed that the Lord appeared first of all to St. Mary Magdalene ... yet, it is worth noting that nearly every saint and theologian for the past 1,000 (excepting St. Thomas Aquinas) has held that Jesus appeared first of all to his Mother.
