When Catholic Social Justice is spoken of, I believe that the question must be asked; When faithful Catholic Christians assist the poor, hungry, downtrodden or anyone, the purpose is because we see Christ in them, however what is the reason that government “gives” ? I have no illusions of the benevolence of government. Government “gives” in order to take; independence, self iniative, freedoms, and, yes, votes. The more government steps aside, the more assistance will be given by individuals.
So, you don’t think Christ is behind their selfish interests and influencing them to do the right thing in helping the poor?
