The U.S. bishops’ conference has unveiled a website in advance of the Church’s Year of the Priest, which begins June 19.

The website is located at http://www.usccb.org/yearforpriests/index.shtml.

The Christ the Great High Priest icon that is posted with this Daily Blog entry is featured at the U.S. bishops’ website. It was created by Meriden, Conn., iconographer Marek Czarnecki, who has given permission to the bishops’ conference and to individual parishes and dioceses to use the icon in conjunction with their “Year for Priests” activities.

Czarnecki says this about the icon, at the Year for Priests website: “I wrote the icon about seven years ago [for seminarians and priests] to be able to see Christ in themselves and themselves in Christ.  We often hear that the icon is called a window; in this case, it’s also meant to be a mirror.”
