Planned Parenthood's Clergy Advocacy Board put out a public letter saying abortion is ok because the Bible doesn't say anything about it. I guess they missed the part about "thou shall not kill" and "be fruitful and multiply."

Man, just how bad do you have to do in theology school to end up on the Planned Parenthood Clergy Advisory Board?

The decision to have an abortion is personal. Though your reasons may be complicated and private, you’re not alone. As religious leaders from a number of religious traditions, we’re here to support you in your decision. Many people wrongly assume that all religious leaders disapprove of abortion. The truth is that abortion is not even mentioned in the Scriptures—Jewish or Christian—and there are clergy and people of faith from all denominations who support women making this complex decision. The Bible also doesn't mention anything about me shackling my neighbor's wife to a radiator in my basement. Oh wait, it does mention not coveting my neighbor's wife but hey it doesn't specifically mention radiators and nothing about her by name so I must be good to go.

Does anyone honestly thumb through the Bible wondering, "Hmmm, I wonder if baby killing is ok." Like these guys care what's in the Bible anyway. The Bible is pretty clear on sodomy but we're told that teaching is outdated. So let's be clear, if it's in the Bible it's outdated and if it's not in the Bible that means it's ok too. Wow. That's not theology, that's me-ology, which allows you to feel justified in every decision.

When folks like this look through the Bible, they see what they want to see. They read, "When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the blob of tissue jumped in her womb."

Planned Parenthood doesn't care what's in the Bible, they know that there's many Christian women who will deal with an unexpected pregnancy and will panic. What these women need is love, unconditional love. Not the kind that's only there until the check clears. Let's all please remember that when Planned Parenthood tells women they're there to support your decision, they mean only after the check clears.

The only reason that abortion providers speak out against back alley abortions is because they can't charge as much. They are about profit. Please recall, these are the same people who sought to take down a cancer research non-profit because they wouldn't pony up. Do you know how sick you have to be to try to take down a cancer research non-profit because they're not paying you for the right to exist?

In the end, there's only one reason the Planned Parenthood Clergy Advisory Board asked this question, and it's because they know they're losing the argument. The fact that the abortion industry is going to such ludicrous lengths should actually be an encouragement that pro-lifers are winning.
