Susan Shaughnessy (Danzfamily.com)

Susan Shaughnessy, a staff member at the John Paul II Institute at Catholic University, died Nov. 17 at Washington’s Fairfax Hospital.

The vibrant young Catholic woman was only 30. She died as a result of a rare neurological condition precipitated by an autoimmune reaction to a virus.

This Daily Blog post is utilizing the same headline that Washington Times columnist Julia Duin used for her Stairway to Heaven column today about the loss of her close friend.

Duin’s column concludes, “And so Susan died just after sunset last Monday, rising through the orange and red mists to the angels who took her home.”
