The Santorum Sweep, Thank Obama

Wednesday, February 08, 2012 2:46 AM Comments (91)

So there it is, the one true alternative to Mitt Romney emerged last night, Rick Santorum.

Rick Santorum won big last night winning contests, some handily, in Minnesota, Colorado, and Missouri.  Not a strong second place, winning.  Some people will understandably try to downplay the nature of the victory pointing out the difference between primaries and caucuses and delegate allocations, but all that misses the point.

It is now either Rick Santorum or imminently evitable Romney.

Rick Santorum has been written off time and time again by pundits and pedants, only to once again, and perhaps finally emerge as the conservative alternative to the militantly moderate Romney. The reason for this is two-fold.  One—Santorum has shown himself to be a consistent and principled candidate throughout this interminable primary season.  His debate performances have been stellar and consistently improving.  He absolutely left Mitt Romney stumbling with his dismantling of Romneycare and the mandate a few weeks ago. Further, he has managed to mostly stay out of the personal and vicious mudslinging that has been the dominant focus of the campaign for the last 6 weeks.  Simply put, he has been a superior candidate to his rivals and getting better.  So all that is one.  The second reason is simple.  Obama.

I think that Obama’s tyrannical and constitutionally dismissive actions over the HHS mandate have reminded Republican primary goers exactly what is at stake in this election.  They have been reminded of what seemed so clear in 2009, that Obamacare signals and initiates the Bataan death march for liberty in this country and the first liberty to go is religious liberty.

I think that Republican primary voters collectively said this week, “Oh, yeah.  Now I remember.”  They looked at the remaining field of candidates and rightly surmised that Romney is probably the weakest candidate who can challenge Obama on the key issues of the day.  There has been one candidate who has stood up for life and liberty like no other candidate and that candidate is Rick Santorum.

The road to the nomination in in a party notorious for nominating the weakest candidate possible for fear of actual contrast is still very much up hill.  But the choices are now clear.  Do we nominate Obama-lite in Romney or choose a candidate who can effectively challenge the President on the key issues of the day.

Missouri, Minnesota, and Colorado chose the latter.  What say you?

I was so amazed by the headlines I about cried.  This race is not over!

I say Rick Santorum for President!

I love when the least noticed “horse” comes from out of nowhere to surprise everyone.

Praying that Our Lady will intercede for us in this very real battle to help people everywhere know that we need to elect a man who will help us build a civilization of love.

Oh happy day!  All this time I have been praying that I would have the opportunity to vote for Santorum here in Ohio, fearing that he would be out of the picture by March.  Now it appears that will be possible.  He is a candidate with honor, decency and moral standards I am proud to support.  He rises above the petty and self-serving issues and has focused on what is urgently needed for America.  God bless Rick and his family.

This made my night!  I was dreading voting for Obama-lite in November!  There’s hope that we won’t have to decide between bad and worse!

I’m in the NObama camp and worry, can Santorum beat him?  So far, I think Romney could - not sure about Rick…

I was at the caucuses (first time) in Minnnesota in my city, and the crowds were standing room only!  God please continue to hear the prayers of your faithful - Dear Mother Mary - please continue to intercede for us and turn this country back to your son.  Praise God that we are finally being seen as a force to be noticed and heard.  We have to all get out and vote for the truth and get the evilness out of the White House.  We all can do our part to fight Liberal America if we all stand together.  If there are almost 70 million of us, you would think that Obama would overturn that horrible HHS mandate, but he’d rather have “Gay Marriage” approved for that vote.  With some of the very liberal states and the large populations, we have to do all we can to stand up and continue to be seen and heard!

I hope Santorum can beat Obama!  My kids and I watched the tallies on the web last night, and not only did Santorum win in Missouri, my mom would say he “skunked” him—beat him with double the votes and more.  He’s a candidate I can feel positive about voting for, rather than just the lesser of two evils.

Well, with Newt wanting to colonize the moon (along with his unstable past) and with Romney’s overall weakness and letting out such bloopers about not caring about the poor, Santorum had to rise to the top, I think.  So I think that the weaknesses of the other candidates had more to do with it than Obama.  While Santorum is too much of a neocon for me to comfortably support, he sure does seem better pickings than his rivals!

The MSM will absolutely tear this man to shreds, should he get the nomination, but I would sure love to have the opportunity to cast my vote for him come November!!!!  God bless him (and his family) for putting themselves in the line of fire for us.

Thanks be to God.  Went to my neighborhood caucus in Colorado last night and found that the overwhelming majority agreed with what I know in my heart - Santorum is the candidate that I’ve prayed for.

May God bless him with His Grace to spread across this troubled nation.

“It’s the economy, stupid”, we’ve been told before and again now…but, “It’s the culture wars, smart people”.  Rise up, men and women of God.  It’s about who gets to nominate Supreme Court justices and to appoint career bureaucrats for the coming four years.

I say Rick!

I’m convinced that there is providence in the fact that we have an NFP-practicing Catholic running for president the same year Obama mandates contraception payment, then sweeps the board a couple weeks after that decision.

RICK SANTORUM FOR PRESIDENT!  He isn’t perfect, none of us are, but he is clearly farther afield from Obama than either Romney or Gingrich.

~ I’m Michael and I approve this message.

I agree that Santorum is the superior candidate in policy and in his ability to articulate a conservative agenda to heal the economy and society, but so often Americans listen to the media when they annoint someone (Romney) or fall for the catchy soundbites of a candidate with no stability (Newt), that I had trouble keeping the faith that the stellar qualities of Rick Santorum would have a chance in the spotlight. Especially since he was cheated out of his Iowa bounce and is too easily written off by the media. Charles Krauthammer led the Fox Allstars in a group mea culpa last night which was very gratifying!
Let me be clear; Santorum is THE best chance we have to beat Obama.
I watch MSNBC and CNN to see what the enemy is thinking and the left has been lamenting lately that Obama has lost 2/3 of the Reagan Democrats. THEY ARE THE SWING VOTERS ON WHOM THIS ELECTION DEPENDS. And they are up for grabs. Rick can win them. Here’s how.
They are conservative, midwest high school graduates, blue collar workers who are afraid of the direction in which this nation is heading. They don’t like snobs like McCain who doesn’t remember how many houses he owns, Obama with his fancy Hawaiian vacations, or Romney who doesn’t worry about the poor. They want a man from steel country whose grandfather was a coal miner, and who helped downtrodden Pittsburgh rise from the ashes. Rick’s populist message resonates with them and they agree with his solid economic policy and family values. AND they know that with Rick, what you see is what you get. He is the real deal.

One of the interesting things about Santorum’s social conservativism being a supposed liability: he’s no more socially conservative than other presidents (Bush and Reagan) that have won elections, and he holds positions that are in line with a majority of the population.  Santorum’s main vulnerability might be that holds personal positions (opposition to contraception) that are not matters of policy but which could be spun as such.  Indeed some of his detractors on the right are lying and claiming that he wants to ban contraception, so it’s easy to see moderates falling for that.  The other “liability” is that he genuinely believes in what he’s saying.  Sure Gingrich and Romney mouth platitudes about social issues, but Santorum is the real deal, and sadly that might actually hurt him to some degree.

But there is no doubt that he is certainly more palatable to the general public than Gingrich, even after the inevitable smears.  He’s personally likable, comes off as well-spoken (thus eliminating another avenue of attack used on previous GOP candidates), and can articulate conservative principles in a way that appeals to blue collar independents.  Most importantly, if he were the nominee the base would actually be motivated to support him, something which can’t be said for Romney, who is basically our version of John Kerry.  So, in the end, I think Santorum could and would do fine in a general election.  Hopefully we’ll get to find out.

Agreed Pat. I pretty much been in Santorum’s corner since day one! Rick’s da man!

Thus, the Catholics dismissed what JPII said about the war, and all jump aboard to support the most pro war candidate.

Rick Santorum will be very busy to win the Democrats support for his endless wars, and again the social issues, like abortion will be put on the back burner.
Ron Paul is the only candidate who has a precise plan how to reduce the deficit, with the war plans of Rick we will only get into more debts and complicate our foreign relations.

I have some reservations about Santorum—primarily because of statements he has made regarding torture—but I think he is a far better choice than Romney (whose pro-life credentials are, in my book suspect).  If he gets the nomination I probably will vote for him (the alternative would be a third party candidate, not Obama).

I say, “Santorum all the way!”  Unfortunately, I’m stuck with only Romney and Paul on my primary ballot in a few weeks with no write-ins allowed by state law.  I’ll be exercising my right NOT to vote…

Count me as one one who voted for Santorum last night at the caucus.  Go Rick!

Rick will help us to build ” the civilization of love”???he is the very committed pro war candidate.  So only some have the right to enjoy the civilization of love??Catholics start listen to the Pope, maybe what he says about our wars is somewhat important??? I know we don’t have to follow His advice in matters regarding politics, but still the Pope is in my opinion morally superior to the politician who supported Sen. Specter in the past.

1.  Romney is definitely not a moderate, he was in bed with the Kennedy’s, is pro-abortion & set up a health care system that is as bad as the one passed by the “party of death”.  Repeat after me, he’s ULTRA LIBERAL !  He’s already spent millions & can be defeated as we saw yesterday.
2.  Ron Paul has a few good points but will never be a contender.  Because of 3rd party “Perot” we were stuck with the great fornicator, don’t let that even enter your minds again, it just won’t work.
3.  Newt is basically a good man, a recent convert struggling like the rest of us sinners to do what is right.
4.  Santorum can defeat the lier in the oval office but the shame of it is it will take hundreds of millions, most of which will go to the ULTRA LIBERAL MEDIA who in effect will do everything in their power to keep their “messiah” planted in the White House.  A real catch 22.
So, please don’t be taken in by the teleprompter reader & his fake Catholic groups & individuals.
“Barbara”:  War is bad !  We sadly suffered over 4 thousands deaths in Iraq.  During that same period well over 10 million babies were slaughtered on our own soil.  Which is the greater EVIL ?

And on cue come the Paulbots, smearing Santorum as the guy who is going to lead America down the road the endless wars.  Yes, yes, very good.  Now go run back to your fantasyland where the guy who is 0 for 108 in statewide presidential contests will be the next president of the United States.

I am one of those strange conservative Catholics who do not believe in big government advancing Catholic principles and morals.  On the contrary, I believe in small central government which protects liberty and the right of Catholics and the Catholic church to advance Christian morality in American society.
Rick Santorum is probably a good man and I share his moral ideals.
Rick Santorum however is not a small government conservative.  How else could he support Arlen Specter.  With his passion for building democracy in the Middle East, as President Rick Santorum, will not give us small government and his social conservative ideals will soon fall victim to compromises demanded by aggressive foreign policy.
Don’t count on much progress on the Pro-Life front any time soon under big government politicians like Santorum.
Ron Paul is the only conservative who will truly put America first and enable the Catholics and members of other religions as well as all people of good will to start re-building our society, state by state.  There is no other way!  Is there?!

Religious freedom in respect to health care has been capturing most of the headlines, but there is another blockbuster issue which merits more attention than it has received thus far. On December 6, 2011 President Obama promulgated a memorandum, addressed to the heads of the executive departments and agencies of the government, titled “International Initative to Advance the Human Rights of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Persons” (LGBT). All agencies engaged abroad, now are required to combat the criminalization of LGBT status and conduct. This could mean, for example, that U.S. military chaplains assigned abroad could be given duty relating to the legalization and promotion of homosexual behavior. The Department of State has the leadership role in the program, and last December 6 Secretary of State Hillary Clinton gave a detailed speech on the subject to the United Nations. Earlier, on June 26, the policy was given a trial run in Pakistan where the American Embassy in Islamabad hosted a “gay pride” party billed as a celebration of homosexual rights. Not surprisingly, Pakistanis condemned the event as an act of “cultural terrorism.” Incidentally, the Pakistan penal code section that the Obama administration wants revoked punishes “carnal intercourse against the order of nature” with a fine or prison sentence of two years to life, or both.

Congratulations to Mr. Santorum. We are so very proud of him. We need a President with strong faith and values. He is courageous and steadfast for religious freedom, pro-life, family values and marriage between a man and a woman. There are those who want to tear down and destroy our beautiful country by destroying from within. Namely, our freedom of religion. Freedom of religion is precious to many Christians as it should be to all. We do not need to be controlled by our government. God gives us our rights. Not the government. God has placed him where He wants him. Mr. Santorum has and will continue to make a difference in the lives of the American People. For this, we thank God.

This is the president we have been praying for +
Go Santorum!

“How else could he support Arlen Specter.”

In the last presidential election, Ron Paul supported Cynthia McKinney.  Santorum endorsed Specter due to a mis-reading of the electorate and a desire to make sure that conservative Supreme Court appointments went through.  Ron Paul actually thought that a pseudo-Communist race baiter should be the president of the United States.

Santorum?  I’m for’im!!

A few years ago I felt and spoke that the best president for the U.S. to get us back on a Godly track would be Rick Santorum. Nobody believed he would ever run. Now is the time to say prayers and Rosaries, and ask our Blessed Mother to intercede for Santorum and this country which is consecrated to her.

Go Santorum! “THANKS” Obama!

I am having a very hard time understanding how Santorum is different from the other candidates? What does he say that is different from Romney or Gingrich? I can’t put my heart behind Santorum because he has supported the Hyde Amendment as a “compromise” and supported a pro-abortion candidate. He is also thumbing his nose at the teachings of Holy Mother church regarding war and peace.

I’m reading a few posts that imply Rick Santorum is in conflict with church teaching re: war and peace. What specifically do you mean by that?

@Jerry, read up on the Just War Doctrine then compare it to Mr. Santorum’s support of the Iraq war and his desire to go to war with Iran, or rather, his desire to “send a message” to the Iranians about having/not having a nuclear weapon.

I’m also praying that Our Lady will intercede.  What scare me the most is Washington and Washington politics.  I believe also that The sadly the Republican leaders of the party are also hoping that Romney, a more “moderate” candidate will be nominated, and will “pull strings” to make sure that is accomplished.

We must pray, and pray hard.  Santorum is my “knight in shiny armor” .  Lets fall back and support him and show Obama that yes, the Catholics do care!

I am a Ron Paul supporter, as his positions are more Catholic than those of any other candidate.  That said, if Santorum is the one who beats Romney, so be it.  I’ll be praying that Our Lord and Our Lady will enlighten Mr. Santorum about the areas where he is off-target (just war, big government).  He seems to be a devout man, so hopefully he can learn, as I did.

Ron Paul even said to Jeff Cavins the other day, “You Catholics need to listen to your Pope more!”  Amen to that…including Rick Santorum.

I must correct myself.  Ron Paul actually said to Jeff Cavins (as passed on by Jeff), “You Catholics need to unite and listen to your Pope!”

At last a Catholic who practices his faith, is pro-life, has good family values and is in line with Our dear Pope! This is a match made in heaven for the United States at this time in her history. I am praying the rosary for him, i know Mary will help us! My grand children’s future is at stake!

As the son of a Bataan Death March Survivor, I vehemently resent the frivolous use of the phrase “Bataan Death March” in this article.  There is nothing that Obama has done that will result in thousands of diseased, starving, dehydrated, and exhausted men being murdered by Japanese sociopaths and sadists.  See the quote….  “that Obamacare signals and initiates the Bataan death march for liberty in this country and the first liberty to go is religious liberty.”  Also, anyone willing to deny a woman basic health care, which includes contraceptives, is neither a good catholic nor a good American, he or she is simply an imbecile.  You have your religious liberty to use or not use contraceptives.

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Heheheheheh.

I am sooooooo pleased…. I could say why, but I’d just be repeating everyone else :)

I’m a minor, but if I was of age, I know exactly who I’d vote for….

Thank God. I must keep praying.

Fred, Abortion has killed over 50 million people in this country since 1973. The Catholic Church has given excellent health care throughout the world for a thousand years. No contraceptive or abortion makes any woman healthier.

Abortion and contraception are two different things.  The anti-Obama group try to deceive the rest of us by interjecting abortion into the argument to confuse the issue.  It is the year 2012 and hopefully we no longer have “blood weddings.”  It is important that women have children only when they are physically, medically and emotionally ready to do so, and they and their doctors are the ones to decide.  That makes it an important part of their health care.  The clause to include contraception into the health care package was voted on by both houses and signed by the president, and therefore it is the law.  Religious freedom does not trump the law.  If it did, we would all be in serious trouble.  Until the law is changed, Catholics, like everyone else, must abide by it.  Most Mormons agreed to stop polygomy with young girls because it was illegal in the US, even if it was an important part of their religion.

Fred

Hello Fred,

What planet do you live on?  Religious freedom does not trump the law?!

You must be a democrat since you have never heard of the US Constitution.  Law that is contrary to the constitution is not “law”

Hello Wes…I believe it is article 1, section 7 of the constitution.  You might want to brush up on it, before the rest of us start thinking that you are democrat.  There is nothing in the constitution that prohibits legislation from creating a standard for basic health care.  Again, your religious freedom is maintained, you don’t have to take contraceptives if it goes against your religious views, but if you are in the health care insurance industry, then you must cover it.

Fred

Fred, if you understood how contraceptives work, you would realize that many new lives are ended just as they are beginning. Also, contraceptives have been proven to be linked with diseases such as breast and cervical cancer. They also can cause a woman to have difficulty conceiving in the future. All these things do not add up to good health care for women. Contraceptives damage the female body and can also mess with heremotional state, as well.
As for Rick S.,I am glad to hear so many of you are praying the Rosary. Remember, no matter how much he seems the best candidate, to pray that God’s Will be done—and then have faith that it will be. God’s Mercy on us all.

Judy, We now have a wide range of options of drugs, devices, and procedures that can be used for contraception.  Like any other medical issue, a patient, with the advise of a responsible doctor, should decide which option would be best for her.  We don’t need to regress back into the “Dark Ages” to be good Catholics.  Fred

Fred, I’m sorry you were offended by the reference to the Bataan Death March, but it offends me when the current administration insinuates that peaceful pro-life advocates are domestic terrorists and that Catholics following the teachings of their Faith, bigots.

“We now have a wide range of options of drugs, devices, and procedures that can be used for contraception.  Like any other medical issue, a patient, with the advise of a responsible doctor, should decide which option would be best for her.  We don’t need to regress back into the “Dark Ages” to be good Catholics.”

Wow, this has really created a crisis of faith for me.  Should I listen to Fred or the Pope for Catholic teaching?  Which one has Christ promised to protect from error in teaching (“Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in Heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in Heaven.”)?

I guess I’ll consult the Catechism.  Hmmm, there’s a lot in here about the Pope, and I don’t see anything about Fred.  Whew!

Whatever you think about contraception, there is no denying that the Pope’s predictions in Humanae Vitae of what would happen if contraception was accepted have come true to the letter:

1 - General lowering of moral standards
2 - A rise in infidelity, and illegitimacy
3 - The reduction of women to objects used to satisfy men.
4 - Government coercion in reproductive matters.

Fred, you have no right to even call yourself a Catholic (assuming you do) when you so casually dismiss a constant teaching of the Church with such a cavalier attitude.

Yet, Santorum, has voted to FUND Planned Parenthood, because he wasn’t man enough to stand up and say “no” when presented with vote on a budget that included PP funding.

I have a hard time watching fellow Catholics fall all over themselves for Santorum, when he is not in line with the Church on many subjects and rationalizes voting for the funding of a great evil.

As for me, I’ll be voting for the most pro-life candidate, and will go third party if I have to.

Ron Paul has a plan to overturn Roe vs. Wade legislatively NOW.  We don’t need to wait around for another 20 years (and 30 million more babies) hoping for that 5th judge.  And yes, Santorum has made some strange votes, such as to fund PP, and for the FACE law, that has been used to prosecute pro-lifers for peacefully protesting.

People, wake up and smell the roses…

Watch this video:

Dave, you must not have the latest version of the Cathechism….  On your four Papal Points….  I guess you have never lived in a country where contraception is illegal and therefore only available to the wealthy.  Aside from having populations denser than can be properly fed and cared for, in these countries, women have absolutely no rights at all.  Women at very young ages are sold for prostitution or forced to work under heinous condtions.  You must travel a bit more.  For a woman to be equal to a man, she must be in control of her reproductive facets.  The only purpose for your first three Papal Points is to subjugate and suppress women.  Do you really live in fear that women who use contraception will become tarts and harlots, and therefore out of your realm of control.  Are you worried your wife will cheat on you if she can prevent getting pregnant?  You seem to have a great need to keep women under control.  There is no difference between government and religious coercion.  Fred

“For a woman to be equal to a man, she must be in control of her reproductive facets” WRONG, women are already equal to men, without the need to treat their fertility as a disease. And are you really implying that the reason women are sold to prostitution is because the lack of birth control?

Iam independent college educated who voted Bush the first term and Kerry on Bush’s second term. I say to you dumb republicans stick with Rick whom I happened to like or provide the support that Romney needs to win the nomination and the general election. Santorum can not beat Obama and for Romney to beat Obama needs your help in winning the general election your full support.Do not do not sacrifice this nation by being stubborn and go with Rick just because little old you want a true conservative who will never serve for he will never win.

Laura, A woman’s fertility is not a disease, it is a human condition, which should be controled by the woman and/or by mutual decision between a husband and wife, but not by some old men wearing robes.  Women who are now in control of their fertility are equal to men.  Women who do not control their fertility are not equal to men.  On your second question, unfortunately this forum does not allow enough space to give a proper answer to your question on prostitution, but you do deserve some answer.  The answer is yes, too a great degree a lack of availability of contraception to poor women in many countries creates conditions which result in women being sold or driven into prostitution.  Simply look at the countries where these things happen.  Fred

I AM in control of my reproductive life!  I get to choose not to have sex if I am not open to the possibility of conceiving a child under the given circumstances.  I don’t need hormones and abortifacients to give me the power to know my own body.

Amen, Evelyn!  I have 4 nieces who have either had children through in vitro or are now in the process.  They all fell away from the Church.  They were on birth control all through their 20s.  Lived with their boyfriends for 7 to 10 years before guys would finally consent to marry them.  Now they are in their late 30s and desperate for children.  So now they all resort to in vitro to have children.  It is so sad how their bodies have been abused and how medically intrusive this all is.  And this is freedom?  This is control?  It is the opposite of natural.  Women are being taken for ride.  It is completely to men’s advantage to advocate for contraceptives.  Any man who does so is suspect.  He’s undoubtedly got selfish motives which he cloaks hypocritically in ‘women’s rights’ speak.  Without contraception, men have to be men.  They have to have self-control and put their lover’s best interest before themselves.  There are very few truly chivalrous guys in this culture anymore.  Contraception has really done a terrible disservice to not only women, but men, who no longer have to grow up.  Pathetic.

Go Santorum!

Thank you, Faith and Evelyn! I could have rebutted Fred, but it’s much better to have women do it.  You are exactly right…it’s the men who try to push contraception and abortion on women that are the ones that want to “control women’s bodies” and “subjugate” them.

Hey FRED:  Be truthful, your one of Sebelius’ FLUNKIES !!!!!!  If not, sounds like your starting your own version of the Catholic Faith.

Can people by shouts and votes defeat God ? All over the world, christians are attacked, killed for their faith, be it in Iraq, in Pakistan or other places. Will this continue for ever ? God taught us to be non-violent and peaceful and prayerful. we do not know what his plan is for each country. He will help America to leave the road of “Pleasure Culture” based on godlessness and materialism. Let us pray for his mercy.

Evelyn, I think you are wonderful.  You should be able control your reproductive life.  I applaud how you assert your freedom, but by the same token, I think we should encourage other women who feel differently to also be able to enjoy their freedom.  Faith, giving women or men freedom does not mean they will make the right decisions or decisions that you agree with.  It means they have the ability to make their own decisions.  Dave, I don’t know what to say about you.  Judging by your four Papal Points, it appears you think very little of a woman’s ability to make her own choices.  Grey Bear, who is Sibelius?  I wondered into this blog by accident or by one of googles mistakes.  KC, you are one very confused puppy.  Your argument proves my point, not yours.  In countries like Iraq and Pakistan, those religious zealots in charge are so sure that their religion is the completely correct that they are willing to oppress and even kill those who believe something different.  Fred

Fred,

I cannot even follow your thread of thought, so I can’t really respond.  I’m not sure how the four papal points (which have all come true) show that I want to control women, or think they are stupid.

So infidelity is not bad?  Illegitimacy is not bad?  Women being treated as objects is not bad?  I just am not following.

Dave, you wrote, “it’s the men who try to push contraception and abortion on women that are the ones that want to “control women’s bodies” and “subjugate” them.”  Let’s look at the facts… It is women’s organizations or women managed organizations such as NOW or PP who want women to have the option of using contraceptives.  It is organizations like the Catholic Church and other Christian groups, run by old men, who wish to deny women the medical option of using contraceptives.  We should keep our discussion within the realm of reality and avoid going into “La La Land.” Fred

Fred, NOW and PP have turned from their roots and embraced the materialism and relativism of the worst of modern culture.  They have betrayed women.  They have tried to neuter women in the name of equality because they have a very simplistic and worldly understanding of what equality means.  I don’t mean that women weren’t treated contemptibly and abused and oppressed.  They were and are.  But NOW and PP lost sight of what was true when they embraced the ‘sexual revolution’ and contraception as somehow liberating.  They saw license as freedom which is a grave error.  They have put women at war with their own fertility seeing that (what makes a woman a woman!) as her greatest enemy.  Read what Susan B. Anthony thought.  She agreed with those ‘old men.’  Read about the person who founded PP, Margaret Sanger, and her racist, eugenic convictions.  Those old men, as you so disrespectfully call them, are apostolic successors who have steeped their lives in studying Christ’s word and the theology of the early Church Fathers and saints.  Even in the worst of times when the Church was terribly corrupt, even then the Church did not deviate from the Truth in its teachings.  The Roman Empire from which the Christian faith was born had very warped ideas about sexuality, abortion, etc.  Those Romans would have totally understood today’s culture.  But early Christians turned from this warped idea of sexuality and embraced Christ even in the face of death.  They knew that to live virtuously, following God’s will was more important than instant gratification or objectifying others.  Fred, you are a very angry person.  Study Scripture and Church history and learn Truth and Peace.

Faith, I brought up NOW and PP because Bob was trying to tell us that it was men who were the main proponents of contraception.  NOW and PP run by women is in favor of contraception and the Catholic Church and other Christian Churches run by old men are against contraceptions, proving Bob gets his facts from “La La Land.”  I was not glorifying either group.  I know very little about NOW, but I do know that PP provides much needed health care (non-reproductive or sexual) to women who live in poverty and who can not afford the “capitalist health care system) and they do so for free. I have studied the Gospels quite extensively and what it means to live the life of Christ.  I have studied Church history as well as the lives of the Saints.  I find very little today in the behavior of most Catholics and Christians which relate to the life of Christ or the lives of the Saints.  Fred

Yes, Fred, because CONTRACEPTIVES HURT WOMEN!  They hurt women because they make it easier for a man to “love them, then leave them.” and makes men less inclined to take responsibility if the inevitable “accident” occurs, leaving the woman on her own.  They hurt women because it treats their natural fertility as a disease.  They hurt them by countless bad physical side effects, including an increased risk of breast cancer.  Read the side effect disclosure sheet on the Pill sometime if you don’t believe me.  They hurt women (and men) by causing a vastly higher divorce rate among those who use them.

Fred, women are equal to men (heck, sometimes I think they are superior)...but equality is NOT the same as equivalence.

When it comes to pets, dogs are truly in the league of their own. Unlike the aloof cat or placid goldfish, using a pet dog encourages its owner to connect to it, play with that, talk to it, run around along with it, or anything else. No other pets mode as strong a bond using its owner as dogs accomplish. Inherently cultural animals, dogs love being the center of attention, meeting new most people and seeing new areas. The problem many pet owners face, nevertheless, is ways to contain or control their dog’s natural excitement so they really don’t jump on guests, chase cars or chew everything inside your home ragged.

Dog training is actually the answer - but what exactly is it? Most new dog owners are not familiar with the ins and outs involving dog obedience training, and are unsure involving how exactly to tame little Fido so it does not pee everywhere and chew in the curtains. The good news is that dog training instructional classes are fairly common in most cities, and tend to be affordable enough for some pet owners. Better news is that which includes a little research, people yourself can train your pet dog using the same techniques and tactics used by the experts. Don’t expect to become dog whisperer after reading just one book, however - dog training can be a skill many expert training companies hone over years working with hundreds of dogs. Nevertheless any god owner can certainly pick up many effective training skills from reading just one book or attending a few classes on dog training.

The first thing to consider about dog training are the different techniques used. Currently there are actually two primary training methods as used by most experts: collar and leash training, and reward training.

Collar and also leash dog training is not really as popular since it involves physically restraining the pet. It’s, none your less, an effective training technique for certain breeds of pet. Collar or leash training is performed by controlling the dog’s reactions for a various commands/instructions by employing a leash around that animal’s neck. The dog owner exert force on the leash with varying examples of severity to maintain control of the dog as the exercising progresses. Leash training is a good method to show the dog that you’re firmly in charge of the situation and the leader in the relationship. Dogs possess a genetic tendency that you follow the leader of your pack, and will actually play you and follow ones instructions more carefully if it thinks you are the leader. While it may look like harsh, receiver collar or leash training is an efficient training method where some other methods fail.

An additional popular dog training process, that reward method, is favored by many dog owners once they first try to teach their new puppy simple commands. A kinder, milder and, some may well argue, more humane dog training technique, the reward method uses positive reinforcement to teach dogs. Every time your dog shows some progress in choosing a new command and behavioral trait, you might encourage it by showering it with praise, enjoy, and little treats. The pet will soon repeat doing things that make its master thrilled, and as well keep doing the same principal in the hope of receiving another treat.

Dog training is not just for kamagra the benefit of the animal. It also helps the owner gain a deeper understanding of their own pet, and fosters a stronger bond between the two.

To do, owning your dog, especially a Jack Russell terrier might be a very rewarding experience. I want dogs but I have always love Jack Russell terriers the most. Many people, especially first time dog owners are often misled into convinced that when they bring again that cute little pup, it will eventually increase into an obedient adult dog which will follow all their recommendations like what they see in the movies…

They will be in for viagra a shock and miserable time within their lives if they don’t accordingly train their puppy - more so in the case of a Jack Russell terrier. Exactly why Jack Russell terriers may be different from other dog breeds is they will were originally bred being a hunter. As a hunter, the Jack Russell will display a predator tendency and ferocity. As some sort of hunter, it loves fun, is incredibly energetic, always on the lookout for prey, fearless and is very competent at making its own decisions as well as solving problems on their own personal.

Don’t feel concerned, you don’t have to give that up you cute little Jack port Russell terrier puppy because they can actually be really successfully trained and can become a very good companion. So when you start training your pup? That is a excellent question because timing is fundamental factor in training a puppy. A lot of dog owners start their dog training in the wrong time - prematurily . and their puppy cannot handle the stress of the training; as well late and their dog has already formed bad habits which is difficult to take out.

It is recommended that you really start off with kamagra housebreaking, basic obedience and followed by advanced exercising. Really you should also not even pick up a puppy with a breeder or the pound until it’s at least 8 weeks old. Consequently, housebreaking should not even be started until your puppy is about 10 weeks old. The biology behind this is it’s important for the puppy and also its particular litter to be combined with their mother in earlier stages of their lifetime. Do your best, it allows the puppies to learn the basic instincts together with social norms expected advisors.

Research has found that dogs which were removed from their mother and litter has a tendency to nip as a pup and may develop aggression issues inside later part of their own lives. Socialization is also a critical aspect in a dog’s life precisely as it is growing up. Puppy should not be isolated from other pet dogs or human especially inside first 15 months of their total life. You should also attempt to complete the housebreaking for your puppy between 10 to help 12 weeks. It ought to be used to your house by then.

Sometimes, people used crate training to increase the training process. If you intend to use crate training, propose to start it as soon as you bring your Jack Russell terrier puppy home. Crate training will help your puppy to learn that it has to hold his pee for a slightly longer period.

After getting completed kamagra housebreaking, you may then move your puppy to basic obedience training. The standard obedience training will normally take place when your puppy is continuing to grow to around 3 to 6 months old. Depending on your preference, you may train your terrier on your property or in a class. The basic training comprise instructions like sit, lie down, stay, move over and any other actions that you want your puppy to learn. It ought to be very simple and if you use the right approach, you can teach your pup all these within a few days.

Once ones terrier has completed the essential obedience training, you may then train him in other ways. However if you do attempt to teach it new tips, make sure that it is old enough to be able to handle any physical stress that is included with the training. It is recommended that a dog be fully grown before you train them jump, run or dive. The stress on a puppy’s body can be immense and stress is regarded as a contributor to dysplasia when they are subjected to these kind of intense training.

Your dog is a big duty. They need lots with attention, stern authority and the chance to bond with you. Training dogs too early can make them restless and fearful while training them too late can make them aggressive and overbearing. Which means that, make sure you get a puppy at the correct age, train him with cue and stay consistent as he ages. Just by teaching your Jack Russell terrier for a young age, but not just are you teaching your pet dog to understand the role you play as their pack leader people also ingrained those instructions deep into their heads as certain actions they should remember constantly. Those first few weeks may be trying but the extra work you put in comes in very handy when your terrier reaches maturity together with follows your every command.

Receiving the kamagra right attitude towards pet training is among everyday materials important aspects to successfully train your pet dog. Sometimes you do not realized it but it is having a wrong attitude which might be the case on why your pet dog continues to have that will behavior problem and help still there despite efforts you place in to train your pet.

Not necessarily the techniques that are wrong but instead your attitude in doing the dog training. You see, dogs are very sensitive to your attachments - more than you might like to believe. Hence the failure or success after you train your dog starts right there in your mind!

If you’re having kamagra problems in your dog training, imagine that again. Did you conduct the training full-heartedly or you did the training just half-heartedly because you have to do so? When training your dog, di you just go through the dog training quickly so as to get back to end your never-ending reports for your boss?

Are you vigrax using a certain dog training technique from the program you have just bought also, you are in doubt if the technique you use to teach your dog will work but you still do it anyway because you have already paid for it?

Well if those are the attitudes you have, then it’s not visiting work. This is due to success in dog training will depend above all on your attitude, state of mind and how well you recognize and apply the next principles or concepts:

<u> Your puppy Is An Animal </u>

Even though your dog is very that come with you and you consider him a part of the family, he is still not a human. He has to be taught and train on what to do and what he can or is permitted to do. Your puppy also learns through recurrent steps, so you will additionally have to be patient when you train your dog.

Together with his kamagras animal instinct, your puppy sometimes may exhibit behaviors that will be not acceptable to people. Normally there will be a tendency to punish the dog for the bad habit. When a punishment is needed, remember not to use harsh punishments but instead use the opposite that’s reward for good behavior for a positive reinforcement to inculcate good behavior.

<u> There is absolutely no Free Lunch </u>

When addressing animals viagra your dog included, know that they cannot understand something such as free treat. Sometimes you may be tempted to pamper your puppy but training your dog is an ongoing process. So from now on, make certain you get your dog to figure for every treat he or she gets. Consider that for an ongoing dog training process for him. This is due to if you spoil your dog by giving him snacks without him putting any effort to obtain it, he might think that he is qualified for those treats and may choose not to listen to your commands.

<u> That’s The Boss? </u>

Dogs are basically kamagra pack wildlife. This implies that by their natural instinct they will follow the leader with the pack. By their natural instincts, they will also try to end up being the leader. To be happy in dog training and to have your dog listen to you and obey ones commands, you have got to be the leader for a dog.

However you must kamagra also be careful and see which dog breed your dog is. Blindly utilizing the leadership principle if you have a naturally assertive dog breed like the Jack Russell terrier breed may spark a disaster.

Schutzhund vigrax dog vigrax stands for “protection dog” in German. And, in the beginning 1900s, Schutzhund dog training was established for a sport to assess the dogs’ characteristics which were imperative for use within law enforcement-type of operate. In the beginning, that German Shepherd breed was the only one that was put in the severities of training. Now, any dog breed may well compete.

A Schutzhund dog must have certain qualities which make it a worthwhile breed. For example, they need to get:

: Agility

- Courage

: Good sniffer vigrax

- Intelligence viagra

: Protection instinct kamagra

Once the dogs viagra kamagra vigrax pass the checks, and very few accomplish, they could be especially trained for all kinds of law enforcement related activities like bomb detection, drug detection and search and recovery.

The basics Of Schutzhund Dog Training

Schutzhund dog training can be an kamagra organized system, which has viagra changed in the last 100 years. The cause for the change is that some folks believed the process was a little inhumane. Right now, the training is strict and company; nevertheless, use toward the dogs is not really allowed.

Previous training vigrax was founded for a minute number of arranged courses and manuals. However, as the training became more widespread and popular, this expansion of educating the dog owner to begin dog training slid into Dvds and videos.

That test has three phases:

- Checking

- Compliance

: Protection

Might be identified skills vigrax that kamagra should be taught to a dog when he/she can be a puppy like tracking and retrieving, leash training and behavior

Most puppies viagra will show characteristics early on if they meet the many qualifications for Schutzhund dog training. There are variations in each training method but the majority of them focus on four basic skills:

1 - Compliance/Obedience - The main trait sought from this Schutzhund dog is compliance (or obedience). Most courses have 11 basic commands including but not limited to:

- Back positioning

- Object pointing kamagra vigrax

- Focus and attention viagra

- Retrieving

- Stand

- Sit viagra kamagra

: Down kamagra viagra

2 - Clicker Training - Don’t assume all single kamagra dog training involving Schutzhunds use the clicker training; nevertheless, they work with a similar technique. This is referred to as positive reinforcement, which is the easiest method to alter a dog’s habit. Clicker training should be started when the dog is just a puppy (around 10 weeks of age).

3 - Protection - Once your dog is young, you viagra want them to know it’s okay to bark at strangers and also to approach only for those who have given the all-clear. Any dog that displays not enough control, fear or aggression are going to be gone from the competition. While the dog is training, he/she must recognize when someone/thing can be a threat and be willing to attack. However, they also has to be self-controlled enough to stop the attack once the command has been offered.

4 - Tracking - When you start teaching your dog, you’ll wish to begin simple. Since cues, operate the aiming and pointing of objects. Add difficulty to your tracking once the dog becomes more capable. Schutzhund dog training teaches the dog to identify a target’s scent and then to start giving chase until he/she’s been termed off.

If you choose to train kamagra vigrax your dog, you have to improve a certain number of skills your dog incorporate the use of to finish that task rapidly and effectively. When you’re a trainer, you must realise that many dogs battle to attain the success stage that’s.

My reaction to his stunning win, as well! Obama had crossed the line, and those voters were sending him a message!

David, Contraception also makes it easier for women to love them and leave them.  It makes them equal.  Don’t let that scare you.  Be brave my son. Giving a woman control over her natural fertility does not treat it like a disease.  I feel very sorry for the women in your life.  Like I mentioned before, there is a wide array of contraceptive medication, devices, and procedures which a woman should discuss with a responsible physician to limit or even remove those harmful side effects.  If both spouses are happy with the marriage, contraception will not be a factor on whether their marriage works.  Now if the husband is abusive, either physically or mentally, it will make it easier for the wife to leave him.  Too many women have put up with beatings from their husbands for the sake of the children.  Fred

Over the past five decades, as many as 300,000 newborn Spanish babies were stolen from their parents and sold to families that the Catholic Church considered to be more devout. The original parents were told that their child had died. A network of doctors, nurses, priests and nuns worked together to steal and sell babies. Catholic Church maintained the baby-stealing practice into the early 1990s. Hundreds of families who were told that their first-born children had died soon after birth are now demanding that the Spanish government launch an official investigation.  The most common targets in Spain’s stolen baby controversy were young, unwed mothers.

Don’t worry, Fred.  The women in my life are quite happy.  How does contraception make it easier for the woman to leave an abusive husband?  Not following that one?  You mean, if they never had ANY kids?  Yeah, then I suppose.  No one having any kids would definitely make the world a lot more simple, wouldn’t it?  Especially after we were extinct.

I don’t know anything about this Spanish thing, but I have no idea what that has to do with the current discussion.

Dave, we are in no danger of going extinct due to contraception.  People will still have children.  The Spanish piece is an example of how in places were contraception is not available except for the rich, the value of women, children, and people in poverty are minimize.  Currently, in the past five to ten years, there has been a mad dash to get contraception and STD protection to the poorest women in many third world countries.  Some like the Philippines have opposed it to their detriment.  Increasing the density of populations in impoverished areas only leads to tragic disasters.  I am sure you are a kind and intelligent person.  If you can see how large masses of people live together in cardboard shacks, using an open slit trench for their bathroom, you will understand that a large flood of new babies is not the answer.  Fred

Fred asks who Kathleen Sebilius is and then claims groups that don’t embrace contraception for women are made up of old men.

Sebilius is Obama’s Secretary of Health and Human Services who decided what the mandate would cover, is a former governor of Kansas who helped late term abortion doctors who mutilated women avoid prosecution, etc.

Fred: have you ever heard of Concerned Women for America, Feminists for Life, Catholic Daughters and innumerable pro life groups headed by women??? You need to inform yourself more about women’s groups who believe women deserve better than abortion and contraception.

I wish life was more abundant in time I could spend reading the comments thoroughly and responding sincerely.  I am just not able to do it.
The best contribution to this group I can make at this point is to recommend the blog of a great Catholic historian and economist Tom Woods.
In my view, of all the commentators, he is the best advocate for liberty.

And one more thing:  My fellow Catholics, remember this one thing:
big government will betray you!  The question is not if?  The question is how soon?
It’s so sad that Santorum’s voting record is “big government” voting record.

Andre

Mr. Santorum runs around saying that the government needs to defund Planned Parenthood http://www.lifenews.com/2011/04/28/santorum-daniels-should-sign-planned-parenthood-funding-ban/ , yet, he voted for spending bills that sent money right to planned parenthood. His reasoning? The bills contained other things that were needed, do he could not vote no.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TyFSXGVX73s

He is in support of killing innocent people via “covert” operations in other countries. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=0imqLFtPk4s

It’s time to wise up, just because a man is devoted to his marriage and his family, a person who has experienced real heartache and is raising a daughter with Trisomy 18 who home schools, (ie similar to many of us) doesn’t mean that he isn’t part of the Washington Inside and the wheeling and dealing that goes on there. Don’t trust him on his “pro-life” statement, research it.

Finally, I urge you to think about all of the work you have done in the pro-life movement, all the times you have spent in prayer, all the time you have spent counseling women, all the time you have spent being attacked for your pro-life convictions, all of the time you have prayed outside of a clinic, all of the meetings you have gone to, all of the votes you have cast for pro-life candidates. Think about that, then think about the fact that a person who tells you he is pro-life and will defend the most innocent, voted for a spending bill, funding the very thing he claims to be against, because there were many other things in there that we “needed” money for.

Fred,
Yes, the cases you mentioned are a perfect example of why we need NFP.  For one thing, putting aside the moral question, poor people who are sent the Pill do not have the wherewithal to get the kind of medical care needed to try to balance out the side effects.  NFP has no side effects, except mild sexual frustration.  My wife’s cycles are not regular and yet my wife and I have used NFP for 20 years with no “accidents”.  The statistics back me up.  It’s a wonderful thing for a woman to understand her own body and fertility.

Joanne, Concerned Women for America and Feminist for Life appear to be nothing but shills for the wing nut branch of the Republican party.  Catholic Daughters appears to be a legitimate and worthy organization.  I don’t agree with them on contraception, but they appear to be doing good work.  Fred

Dave, I don’t know what NFP is.  Is that an accronym for Vatican Roulette?  Have you seen how the Republicans in the Senate Judiciary Committee unanimously voted against a bill that would protect women from domestic abuse and sexual assault.  It is the same bunch who is anti-contraception.  There is a connection here.  Fred

OT digression, but

Yes, Fred, it’s obvious you don’t know what NFP is, as your attempt at a humorous response to Dave sounds like you are only aware of 40 year old cartoon caricatures of it.

It is also obvious you don’t know that right now (& for quite some time now), women HAVE been able to “enjoy their freedom” by using contraceptives, abortifacient drugs & obtain sterilizations, as they are all quite easily obtainable by anyone who wants them.

Don’t try to claim that “only the rich can get them”, not in a country where even many “lower class” people have multiple televisions & cars, or are running around whining that they’d rather have the white iPad than the black one, or are moaning about having cell phone AND/OR cable TV bills of over $100 a month.

This mandate you seem enamored of tries to go farther & claim not only that women should be “able to obtain those things”, but that EVERYONE ELSE should pay for them, regardless of how they view them. They’re NOT unobtainable, and no one has any right to claim that everyone should be forced to go buy them for whoever wants them.

Back OT:

Personally, I think the Catholic Church in “Land of the Free” America is on it’s way to becoming a copy of the Catholic Church in (Communist) China.

I don’t like either Romney or Santorum, but between them, Santorum isn’t as objectionable.

One doesn’t need to be a “Paulbot” to be able to recognize Santorum’s zeal for big government, unsustainable debt, neverending war, even in opposition to the Church - One just needs an IQ above 50, & working eyes & ears.

(Augustine’s Just War therory has been proposed as justifying support for eternal war & torture. The Church’s agreement with Augustine’s Just War theory, is a large part of WHY it opposes neverending war, torture, & assassination of people who do things that militaries find useful - which actually excuses 9/11 as an act of “assassinating militarily useful logistical support persons”.)

Aside from Santorums dumber “pragmatic” acts like supporting Spector, yes, Santorum opposes abortion which is huge, but that’s only part of being “pro-life”, and his other views are anything BUT pro-life.

Yes, the hundreds of thousands who have died & been injured (Not just american soldiers in Iraq, but in all 6 current war fronts, as well as all innocents who have been killed & wounded) are less than the millions of babies killed in abortion, but as Catholics, “We may not do evil that good may come of it.”

Santorum does support such consequentialism, “doing evil that good may come of it”, so I tend to doubt that he’s the wonderful, faithful Catholic saint that I’ve heard him painted as.

Nonetheless, the president can’t singlehandedly ban abortion, Supreme Court appointments are not likely to end abortion in the next 100 years or so, and even “anti-abortion” presidents like Bush was supposed to be haven’t really worked to end abortion by supporting & promoting things like the Sanctity of Life Act, (which BTW Dave, Paul has been introducing for years, including 2 times when the “pro-life” GOP held the White House & majorities in the House, Senate, & Supreme Court, but ignored it anyway.)

Romney is simply a negative image of Obama, exactly the same in all ways but color & label. While not as identical to Obama as Romney is, Santorum is the best of the candidates that may be able to be nominated by the establishment.

Have faith in God, He’s much more powerful than the O’devil.

Chris,
Not sure if you are addressing me with the comments about Ron Paul, but I am already a Paul supporter.  Santorum never met a war he didn’t like, Romney is a chameleon, and Gingrich is both arrogant and unelectable.

Let’s get out there and spread the word on Paul!

Not trying to convince you Dave, just adding to your correct point that Paul has been trying to overturn Roe v Wade legislatively for years…

God bless!

Chris, So, what is FPN?  Where do you live that the lower classes have multiple cars and televisions???  The ones I know live in homes with no utilities, or in their cars that don’t run, or in homeless shelters.  The ones I know wear clothes that are donated through various charities.  The ones I know go days without eating.  The ones I know do not need more babies.  The ones I know only get medical care when it is an emergency.  If you back track on what I said, I was not specifically addressing the US, but mentioned “countries” where only the rich have access to birth control.  Yes, we should all chip in to assist those less fortunate than us.  I believe that message is loud and clear in any reading of the Gospels.  Does your flavor of the Catholic faith ignore the Gospels or the Life of Christ?  Isn’t being a Catholic suppose to be in accordance to the life of Christ, as opposed to the Republican Party/Fox News, falacious talking points you are blustering?  I don’t have a dog in the Republican primaries.  They all sound like Larry, Moe, and Curley to me.  Your dogma “we may not do evil that good may come of it” is simply verbal calisthenics, in other words, jibberish that has no application to the problems in the real world.  We can all string words together which can sound profound if we do not attach them to a tangible context.  Fred

Still pretty amazed that nothing is said about Santorum’s voting for Title X funding…like it is just okay

Fred,

First, I live in the US, & my perspective begins at home. “Poverty level” in America is a bad joke, when it includes not only people who truly struggle, but also includes people like those I talk about. I know many examples of both types. In America, regardless of how you feel about it, artificial birth control is not inaccessible or unaffordable, and everyone can obtain it in America, regardless of employment or income already, or is your “vast experience” lacking the readily observable phenomenon of organizations from Planned Parenthood to public schools passing out handfuls of condoms? (Which are not the only subsidized & freely handed out type of birth control, by the way.)

Second, I am not a Republican, nor am I a Democrat - I am a Catholic. I don’t have TV, much less watch Fox “news” or any other “tell em how to think” media outlet.

My “flavor” of Catholicism would be the one found in the Catechism of the Catholic Church, rather than one which rejects what the Catholic Church believes in favor of my own preferences and belief that I am the supreme authority over the earth.

I did not make up the statement that “we may not do evil that good may result”, that actually came from the Bible (See Romans chapter 3, if you’re interested). Your dismissal of that principle seems to imply that you hold the opinion that the Bible is “simply verbal calisthenics, in other words, jibberish that has no application to the problems in the real world.”

Fair enough, I can see where you’re coming from.

However, that means that you “don’t have a dog in the fight” when it comes to the whole HHS mandate thing either, and even it the Gospels did claim that contraception was A-OK, your assertion that they have no weight completely undermines your attempt to use them to justify your claims.

Take care.

Chris, finally tell me, what is FPN?  Is this some sort of Opus Dei secret?  You and I live in the same country, but like I said, around me the poor do not own multiple cars or televisions.  Again, I must live in a different America, as contraceptions are not as given out here as freely you describe.  I am happy public schools are giving out condoms where you live.  It will prevent a lot of tragedy and misery in the future of those kids.  Chris, didn’t you have sex or try to have sex when you were in high school, like most of the other kids? I would not be too stuck on that Catechism.  Our church is constantly evolving.  We don’t burn scientist at the stake anymore and we have done away with inquisitions.  Also there is noticiable difference with catholics in different parts of the world.  Since you are stuck on the Catechism, I can see why you are so angry.  Most catholic women in America use or have used contraceptions.  If Catholicism is simply those who read and observe the Catechism, then you would all be able to fit into one church for mass on Sundays.  Again, if it does not have a tangible context, your words on doing evil are jibberish.  Do the Gospels bother you?  Does Jesus’ humanity bother you?  You prefer the writings of Paul which renders one mentally resigned.  Fred

Sorry Fred,

For one, it’s obvious that you don’t care enough to do a 15 minute search to find out what NFP is, but would rather reply to others with sarcasm & an aggravated sense of moral superiority.

I don’t find it worthwhile to bother with ignorant snark - Too much like trying to convince a rock that it is not a liquid object.

I’m sure there are plenty of others out there who like to argue endlessly. Good luck with that.

Take care

Chris,  I did do a search for FPN and did not come up with anything that would apply.  Your problem is you have a very limited sense of what it means to be a catholic, since you are tied to the catechism.  Most catholics do not read the catechism nor do they care about it’s content.  Most catholics use contraception and have no intention of quiting, simply because some red-hats are against it.  I am willing to bet most priest and nuns agree with me.  I am also willing to bet most catholics are more like me, than they are like you.  This begs the question, what is catholicism?  Is it what is written in the catechism or is it the actual practices of most catholics?  Fred

Fred,
Q: what is catholicism?  Is it what is written in the catechism or is it the actual practices of most catholics?

A: The teachings of Catholicism are found in the Catechism.  Faithful Catholics should follow these teachings.  If they find themselves unable, after prayer and study, to believe the teachings, then they should have integrity and find another Church more suited to their desires.

This reminds me of a joke a priest once told me (it’s not really a joke, but in the form of a joke)
Q:  What’s the difference between a dissenting Catholic and a Protestant?
A:  The Protestant has integrity.
