This is an interesting blog post, but honestly, this kind of article stresses me out (my problem when this happens though, not the writers’). My comfort is that the article also says that comets have a “habit of not living up to expectation”.

I kinda hate to rain on this parade, but so far this sounds like the second coming of Comet Kohoutek from the early 1970s—another comet that was widely predicted to be really spectacular and turned out to be a dud. I was 10 years old at the time and had just gotten into astronomy, and I remember being really disappointed that I got up at the crack of dawn (in the dead of winter, no less) to see this “spectacular” comet and barely saw a thing.  So I’ll believe this when I see it.

I also wondered about the Garabandal messages w.r.t. this post.  We shall see what we shall see!

I thought the article was to talk again about the end of 2012. Nonetheless, if we reflect on the miracle of Christmas, God always intervenes in men’s lives, especially when it comes to save our souls. He loves us so much!!

The alleged appearances of Mary to four children at Garabandal, Spain 1961-1965 have nothing to do with comets or other celestial bodies. Where does this stuff come from??

Because at Garabondal the BVM stated there would be a “sign” from the sky.

But she never said that it would be a comet, or asteroid, or any type of physical celestial body; it would be a supernatural event, unexplained.

God uses what is in our environment to speak to us. This doesn’t have to be true in this case, but it could be a possibility.

But the visionaries themselves have specifically stated that it will be a supernatural phenomenon, and not explained by science.

Okay - but God took the sun at Fatima and made it spin. It could be possible that God could take a comet and have it create something like a cross burned into the side of a mountain. That would not be explained by science. I guess only God knows right now how He will get our attention.

Every August I,  along with a small group of friends,  spend one night gazing up at the Perseids Showers.  I admit to allowing my imagination to get the best of me as I envision a heavenly army of angels flying hitherto on missions of such magnitude commissioned by God.  Childish,  I suppose : but then we are told to “be as children.”  If only on that one day in August, every city in every nation would turn off the lights and lay down their weapons.  If only all would stop and for one night turn their eyes towards that heavenly display.  Free to all and as awe inspiring (if not moreso)  than anything manmade. I can’t help but go to sleep on that night just a little more hopeful, a little more aware that He holds me in His Hands.  Happy New Year Everyone!

The name of the comet ISON may be a message in itself.  It comes around our way next Christmas.  Not a coincidence.

It is unfortunate that the world today fails to see ALL the signs around us.  If the signs hit people in the head, there would be some scientific explanation for it other than God trying to get our attention.  God wants us to live in peace,treat our world with respect, and to love one another.  We need to wake up and look to the weather, sky, and signs that God is giving us before its too late too change our ways.

Pat, contrary to popular belief, the Star of Bethlehem was not a star at all, but rather an angel sent as a guide.

I remember Dennis Prager once saying to the effect of, “God could appear in the sky for all to see and speak to them in their own languages and in three weeks the media would have us convinced that it was all just a strange natural phenomena.”

This article does invite us to think about the power of God in getting our attention by using nature all around us.

I don’t think that the star of Bethlehem was a regular star, but one used by God’s specific purpose- to lead the way for the Three Kings to find the Child Jesus in the manger. That was “brilliant”!(no pun intended).
 
Whether science can prove the miracles of God is not important to the faithful, like the miracle of the sun at Fatima,and countless other miracles throughout history.

I have no doubt that nature is the creation of God and one that he often uses to get our attention, punish evil, stir up our faith, answer our prayers, destroy enemies, win victorious battles,stop the path of a killer tornado, change the course of history and even prevent the rain from ruining a day at the park,if that’s what we prayed for.

It is predicted that towards the end of time, there will be signs in the heavens, the sun,moon and stars. I’m sure we need to get our house in order now, no matter what.

Mr. Archbold is yet another “Catholic” commentator who says much about nothing, at least in this article, the first (and the last)of his that I have/will read.  The statement about modern man looking at his navel is supposed to be profound??? If that is profound, what does it say about this guy’s regular readers?  As a traditional Catholic I have read and now largely ignore such “experts” who usually know very little about their subject matter (especially those who comment on Fatima) or like this one,leave me wondering just what he was trying to say….This guy is a waste of time

Gianna Sullivan received a message from Our lady of Emmitsburg in June 2008 saying that a comet would come and a large part of mankind would die. It’s on u-tube as she actually has the apparition.

At Garabandal, a sign in the sky was predicted, but it was a great cross of light. Also a worldwide awakening of individual consciences was predicted around the same time as the sign, so that people would be converted.

The same prediction is made at Anguera, Brazil, through the seer Pedro Regis. There, the Blessed Virgin predicts a comet drawn towards the earth by the altered magnetic poles; a great cross in the sky that will be seen all over the world; and a great transformation of the earth through manmade and natural catastrophes when the wicked shall be gotten rid of; and worldwide peace of the Lord will reign afterwards.

The children at Garabandal never said or stated in any way, shape, or form, that the ‘sign’ in the sky would be a cross of light. Again, where does this stuff come from??

Greg, if you know it all, why don’t you share your illumination instead of coveting it.  This site states that the seers refer to a vision like 2 stars colliding; another seer has said that the warning begins with the letter ‘A’ - asteroid? atomic weapon?

I’m not that interested in Garabandal and haven’t read any info for years; but the Anguera messages refer to the same collision in the sky and also a cross of light that the whole world will see.

hello all,  I just want some to think about…well…the bible.  Is that so bad!...In the end of days…Era…an end of an age.  Not the end of the World!  The bible says the sun and moon will rise and set always.  But consider.  There will be signs in he Sky in the end of this time period.  Comets of old ment bad omen.  Well….that just may be so, because so many are far…far…from God.  God said he will spew out the luke warm Church, and dead Church. Kew word Church going people who call them selve religious or worse yet Spiritual.  Back to my point.  So many signs are coming in 2014, 2015.  A tetrad…Blood Red Moons, Sackcloth moons that fall on the Jewish Feast Days. The BVM has already told the visionary Lucia that Russia has been consecrated in accord with her wishes. The third secret of Fatima has already been totally revealed. All who have seen it have said so. Why do some refuse to believe this?

Rosanna, you are just another gullible and uninformed (about Fatima) catholic.  it has been proved beyond doubt that claims that Sr. Lucia said the consecration was done by JPII in 1984 are TOTALLY FALSE!! The late Fr. Robert Fox was largely responsible (but not only him) for inventing and spreading these untruths.  The Third Secret released by the Vatican in 2000 has been shown in very great detail to be at best, only part of the Third Secret…In order to know this you MUST do some reading!  “Some” refuse to believe this because they have done their research!  They also know from currnet world condiitons and events that the Consecration has NOT been done because the world is in chaos, WWIII is possible at any moment and there is NO ERA of PEACE going on!  Also, JPII never claimed that his consecration of the world in 1984 was what O.L. wanted!  Others claimed that it was….For a start at obtaining the truth, go to www.fatima.org and do some serious reading.. If you (and millions of others) think the consecration is done you will NOT offer rosaries for it to be done..You are derelict in your duty to God for not looking into this!  Do you see peace anywhere?  Are you blind??  Have you not heard that Benedict’s 1st sermon as pope eneded with a plea that we pray for him so that he would not flee from the wolves?  His exact words, Rosanna…The wolves are the Masonic cardinals, bishops and priests, many of whom are right in the Vatican!  Please wake up!!

Great article. The Lord does use the heavens as signs; just look at Our Lady of Guadalupe, she’s covered in “signs”.  She was sent to convert a culture that, although paganistic, was very sophisticated when it came to astronomy. She’s standing in front of the sun, standing on the moon and her mantle is covered with constellations. The constellations on her mantle are an exact mirror image of the sky when she appeared to Juan Diego.  Also, please stop wasting time obsessing whether or not the consecration to Russia was done.  All of us need to pray for the conversion of the whole world; it’s going down the toilet!

George, you are another ignorant fool…I have studied astronomy as a hobby since high school.  I have a doctoral degree and I READ!! I went to the shrine in Mexico city. I pray in front of abortion “clinics” and I am devoted to O.L of Fatima and O.L. of guadalupe…The claim that the stars on the tilma image are a mirror image of the sky in 1531 is nonsense!  As far back as the early 80’s books were published that demonstrate catagorically that those stars are painted onto the image, are later additions to the miraculous original image and they are completely different that the stars as they appear in the sky!  The stars on the tilma are in a regular pattern and run in almost perfectly parrallel lines…Very different from the stars in the “constellations.”  The sun rays were also painted onto the tilma as were the angel and moon.  In fact the tilma image ends above the fold that shows Our Lady’s slipped which also looks like the face of a baby.  But they are PAINT!  The stars, rays and moon show wear and chips…the miraculous image doesn’t and is actually enhanced by the weave of the cloth.  The weave provides some of the incredibly beautiful shading in the face, especially the left (of the lady) cheek….Again, there are so many catholics who accept anything they are told.  They think the Vatican is saintly.  They know nothing about the warnings of O.L. of LaSalette in 1830, that “Rome will lose the Faith and become the seat of the anti-Christ.” The Vatican is riddled with Masons!  Have you ever heard of Archbishop Anabale Bugnini?  He was the “architect of theNovus Ordo Missae.  Pope Paul VI banished him to Tehran in 1976 after he was shown irrefutible proof that Bugnini was a member of a Masonic lodge in Rome as early as 1963… Sr. Lucia herself said that the Third Secret is in the Apocalypse, chapters 8-12 or 8-13, my memory fails me about that.  She said, “READ IT!” I suggest you and Rosanna and many othrs read it too.  But don’t stop there.  Read about Fatima and LEARN about the fine points!  Stop misleading others because of your own ignorance!

I took a photo one evening attempting to capture a most magnificent sunset.  When I checked out the image, it had not caught what I wanted, but instead very clearly showed that the light had diffused into the image of a cross.  Another time, sitting out on my back deck,  I was amazed by a light on the eastern horizon.  My house sits cradled below a rise in the terrain to the east.  I’m in a borderline wilderness area which lends itself greatly to my imagination.  I was for a few moments certain that I was witnessing something otherworldly!  I have to confess to being mildly disappointed when a few moments later I saw the full moon taking form on the horizon.  Optical illusions, both,  but none the less capable of gifting me with a sense of wonder at the world around me. We have been told that no man knows the time but our Father in heaven.  We’ve all heard the doomsday prophecies, more than once,  all false prophets.  At the same time,  we live in a world so full of wonder.  There are real troubles, yes, but also amazing, tangible beauty that surrounds us. Why not start and end the day thanking God for these gifts and asking him to lead us and strengthen us on a path that shares this beauty and His Love with others?  Why stir up fear in people over something none of us know anything about?  Why spend this one wild, crazy life in fear?  Uh…..that’s not God,  folks.  That’s the “other team “.

Yes George, the self-righteous always fall back on their own virtue but never address the the content of the criticism.  I’m old enough now to realize my faults, yes, but I no longer take seriously fallbacks to personal virtue like yours to vindicate the misleading of others.  The late Fr. Malachi Martin said years back that the devotions, and truths of the catholic faith that have been lost since Vat II are out there, but in our present climate of church weakness it is up to us to find them and that Our Lord will not accept the claim that “I didn’t know that.”  Maybe you are a saint, I don’t know, but I am sick and tired of the misinformation that is spread around.  It’s the same misinformation or lack of dissmeination of information that gave us Obama and his relection… Then again, so many “Catholics” in so many parishes have his bumper stickers on them..
