No Country For Old Gay Men

The real health crisis Bloomberg ignores.

Tuesday, June 26, 2012 10:31 PM Comments (24)

Nanny Bloomberg is the opposite of Nanny McPhee, he gets uglier with every problem he tries to fix for his 8 million ill-behaved charges.

There is no problem so small for which Nanny Bloomberg doesn't have a draconian fix at the ready.

Salt. Can cause hypertension if abused. Solution: Banned.

17 oz Soft Drinks. Too much sugar says he. Banned!

With those little problems Nanny Bloomberg has a solution. If you have a bad habit that might have the slightest impact on your health, no matter how tangential, no matter how remotely possible, no matter how ambiguous the causation, the Nanny has no choice but to swoop in and abscond with your liberty. Tyranny for your own good, of course, is still tyranny.

But The Nanny demurs calling it a minor "inconvenience" to reverse a national health catastrophe. If lifestyle choices harm you, you must be encouraged, even coerced to stop.

But here is the curious thing. What if I told you that there is clear evidence that a particular behavior has been shown in multiple studies to very seriously impact health. Indeed, for those who engage in this behavior life expectancy can be reduced from anywhere from 5 to 20 years. Along with that dramatic reduction in life expectancy come hosts of other health problems that can put a serious drain on "the system."

So naturally, The Nanny can not allow such a destructive lifestyle choice to cost so much in life and death. The Nanny must step in and do something, right?

Wrong.

See, it is not really about making bad lifestyle choices that forces the Nanny to swoop. No, I mean how bad is a 17oz soda every once in a while that it requires banning? Certainly 17 oz soft drinks have not been show to reduce your life expectancy by 20 years. So it is not about making bad lifestyle choices, it is about making unpopular ones.

Sugar. Not popular among liberal elites (except of course during campaign events when the elites try to identify with you, the obese voting rabble.)

Homosexuality. Very popular among liberal elites. The fact that men engaging in that lifestyle are killing themselves, that is a choice we must respect. Not just respect, but celebrate and promote.

Big Gulps, no respect. Banned.

Sodomicide? We have parades.

Since I am not the banning type, I think it only fair that we have a big parade celebrating the alternative lifestyle of Big Gulp drinkers. After that, maybe The Nanny can leave us all alone to die in peace.

Don’t forget the transfats and second-hand smoke.

I will definitely support your right to a Big Gulp, while desiring a restriction n the little gulp.

(sigh)  I’m glad I’m not homosexual. What a battle.  (I have enough battle as it stands) If I was, I wouldn’t want a ticker tape parade put on by Bloomberg. Goodness knows it can’t be easy.  When we knock the liberal establishment like they completely need knocking, and show them up for all of their cheap pandering, I still would like to stand in solidarity with my gay bro’s and sisters who practice chastity like everyone who truly cares to try to please God.

anna lisa- Good point.  We are all of us sinners called to conversion.  God loves us as we are, but loves us too much to leave us that way.

Interesting story about Josh Weed. He has an exclusive same-sex attraction, is a devout Mormon, and is happily married to his wife.

Point #4 is particularly relevant. This case seems to be an unusual one, but it has made me rethink a lot of assumptions about same-sex attraction.

Homosexuals are NOT GAY and their death-style (not a life-style) will lead them into the pits of hell along with all unrepented sins, as God clearly tells us that the wages of sin is death.  Why hasn’t the Government put out warnings about the plague that is affecting this country: throat disease, that is now appearing, not only to men, but, also to women and thanks to the Dept. of Education, “planned parenthood” and your local school departments, it will be coming to your school-aged children and it is not caused by smoking or soda or sugar, but, from immoral and what used to be illegal in every state, sodomy?  See, God will not be mocked, He allowed Aids for homosexual activity and now this, and there will be more to come.  +JMJ+

Read “The Battle For Normality” by Dr. Aardweg, a psychotherapist from 1963.  He writes his book in hindsight over a 30 year period in which he has treated 3000 patients, 300 of whom were homosexuals, 15% of whom he established a permanent return to heterosexuality through psychotherapy - 45 people.  He (and the scientific community) solidly refute all studies claiming this disorder is inherited.  It is learned mal-adaptive behavior (called a neurosis) and these people need and can get help through psychotherapists.  Children are not born homosexual, but have childhood experiences with messed up parenting that caused the neurosis.  One can understand why the state of california is trying to ban psychotherapists from treating homosexuals.  The homosexuals do not like their lifestyles, and need to talk to a professional to discuss.  Homosexuals that claim they are happy, after several visits, realize they are not happy at all.  So why only a 15% cure rate? lots of reasons.  Some give up as they backslide into their unhappy lifestyles.  Not all forms of homosexuality may be understood (except that they need a lot of study by psychotherapists). The more the interchange woth good therapists, the better understanding and exchange of ideas on cause and treatment will become apparent.  A good read - for those interested in the true cause of homosexuality.  BTW, the national average - men and women together - is about 1%, poll after poll after poll.  How can 1% of the population pay for this push for homosexual marriage?  I doubt their that rich.  Who is pushing this as an alternate life style?  In Great Britain where Homosexual marriages will become legal soon, about 2/3 of all homosexuals don’t want it, and more would never “marry”, according to a recent poll.  Too much to lose in a very promiscuous lifestyle.

As far as I can tell this article isn’t about people with same-sex attraction. It’s about the schizophrenia of our elite overlords who are “so concerned” with your health that they will regulate your food choices yet, in the name of tolerance and diversity, will encourage you into every sexual vice. Sexual vices which will have a much more lasting impact on your physical and emotional health. You could stick any of the numerous ones in here (no fault divorce, contraception, abortion, extra-marital sex, and yes, homosexual acts).

I’ve been to a doctor who regulated that a PB&J sandwich was too much for lunch; however if I (an unmarried woman) decided to take BC and have sex with random men he wouldn’t judge me. I’m pretty sure the class-1 carcinogen, STD’s, and broken emotional health would cause me a LOT more harm than my choice for lunch one day.

Lady Cygnus,
so well said when you said that sexual vices have a much more lasting impact on your physical and emotional health than mere food choices. They also have a lasting detrimental impact on your spiritual health, on ones soul.
our secular “me-centered” culture has pushed the public acceptance- even among “christian/catholics” of once was considered morally evil of such actions like unilateral forced no -fault divorce ( now considered morally neutral), contraception ( responsible parenting, or a womans choice), abortion( a womans choice and right again), extra-marital sex( no big deal- every one does it- Im sure God understands after all.), and Homosexual acts- ( after all everyone needs physical love, and after all they are born that way is the secular argument) .
We need our leaders in the Church, our clergy to speak out about these dangers to our very soul, as well as our physical and emotional health; publicly and from the pulpit.
enough sermons on being tolerant. we get it.
but by being silent on the moral evils that are destroying a generation of families( divorce), killing many more through abortion, chemical abortion through contraception- they are being party to the agenda of destruction.
Its time for all us believers to stop being silent and tell the truth. this is true christian love.

Those large Cokes being banned are mostly ice anyway.
Large Cokes are banned but alcohol & tobacco products not? I can’t buy a large soft drink in a convenience store but no limit on tobacco, & porn magazines are for sale behind the counter-I guess no limits on them either….

Lady Cygnus,
Thanks for your comments. To secular folk there is no real moral concept of “vice”, but you’re right.Dietary advice is OK, sexual advice is “judgemental” these days.
I’m Southern & when you wrote about taking “BC” before engaging in promiscuity, I thought you meant “BC Powder” which is a powdered aspirin popular here.I re-read your post & figured you must be referring to birth control, not headache control.
:)

I read one study that was taken from the obituaries in homosexual newspapers.  The average age at death as only 38!!!  The exact number could be disputed, but even if it’s only 5 years, that’s too much.  The human body was not intended for anal sex.  If you did this sort of thing in Biblical times - where there was a lack of proper bathing facilities -it doesn’t take too much imagination to see how infections could occur, especially in uncircumcised men.  And, remember, there would be no antibiotics to stop a simple urinary tract infection - or an infection that could set in when delicate anal tissue is torn.  Engaging in sodomy and then having relations with an unknowing woman could be a death sentence for her.  OK, so now we have penicillin and showers.  But the problem is still not solved.  Now we have AIDS, which as a virus antibiotics will not cure.  We have also seen an uptick in anal cancer in the homosexual commmunity - a disease which is almost unknown in the heterosexual world.

Yes, this is an ugly conversation, one that people do not like to have.  It’s similar to ugly conversations about just what an abortion is.  Everyone wants to deal with these issues from the 40,000 ft level, in a theoretical vacuum, in the dark.  But once you shine the light on it and really look at what it really is, you become sickened and you begin to realize that there’s only one plausible explanation for all the misinformation and confusion surrounding these topics - Satan.  Who else would promote such confusion and distortion so as to make a human think these things are good and to be celebrated when in fact they bring suffering and death?

How do I respond when some arrogant know it all accuses me of being a biggot for not embracing same sex marriage?  I ask them if they know what the average life expectancy for a male homosexual is. Then I tell them and encourage them to investigate the answer for themselves.

Anyone interested in reading more about the research supporting this should go to the following web site and scroll half way down to “What does scientific evidence show about homosexuality?”  http://www.catholic.com/library/gay_marriage.asp

My heart goes out to anyone who suffers from a same sex attraction or has a loved one with a same sex attraction.  But condoning and encouraging this behavior - on whatever level - is not going to help them.  It will cut their lives short.  What could be more evil then encoraging someone to do something that will cut their lives short?

New Yorker ,
It’s difficult for some to separate medical fact from agendas, whether those agendas be pro or anti same-sex sexual relationships. This can keep important info from the conversation.
I think you bring up some important points, but some of those behaviors are now more widely practised among heterosexual couples, including teenagers, & the same diseases, such as throat cancer are greatly increasing.Oral contraceptives are part of the mix, too as they tend to lower the immune response.
It’s a dangerous world out there & I’m worried least about the extra-big Coke sold in the 7/11.

Katheen, you’re right.  Those practices are no good even for heterosexuals.  Anyone who ignores the the Natural Moral Law will pay the price.

New Yorker, you said it all for me. I pray fir all those who practice that lifestyle. On the subject on the Big Gulp, I offer a solution. Stores should sell two 8-oz drinks for the price of one plus the small cost of the extra cup. Power to the people, not the bureaucrats, and to our American inventiveness and resilience.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, “KEEP YOUR REGULATIONS OFF MY CARBONATIONS!!”

The Bible says that anal sex is “shameful lust” of Romans 1:24-27 that St. Paul gives as an example of the depravity and perversion of mankind. Read the passage carefully: The women gave up natural relations for “that which is against nature” and started doing it with the men, then the men gave up the women entirely and started doing it with each other.
.
Every single Biblical condemnation of homosexuality refers or alludes to this specific practice. (“Homosexual” is a modern word. The original Greek and Hebrew are more explicit than modern translations.) Not one refers to lesbianism or any other male/male behavior.
.
It is a particularly unhealthy activity that no one should engage in.

Okay, I get that the title of this post was “catchy”, and I understand the absurd inconsistency of the “nanny state”, but can’t you see that it it perpetuates the idea that Catholics are bigots?  Yes, homosexual ACTS are gravely disordered.  Some old homosexual men don’t indulge in their inclinations.  This country IS for them.  Who among us is without sin?  I don’t understand why people get so hot and bothered about whether homosexuality is inherited or not.  It exists.  Why can’t we see “Old homosexual men” as our brothers in Christ?  The title is offensive.  You know what’s ridiculous?  That there are plenty of guys who masturbate to porn, who think their sin is not as grave as a gay man’s.  Look up what Thomas Aquinas had to say about THAT.  If we eliminated every single guy from this country that had ever masturbated, I wonder how many men would be left?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with oral foreplay between a married man and woman.  Don’t knock it till you try it.  It’s fantastic. Study up on the biology of the body. Calling this sodomy is a gnostic HANG UP, and a Pharisaical shame.  Why do some people want to make Catholicism so rigid?  I think I know who is behind that ploy.  If he can’t tempt in one direction, he tempts in the other.

Anna Lisa, I thought the title was somehow connected with the movie “No Country for Old Men”. I’ve never seen the movie and figured it somehow related to the article where an authority pretends to care by making another person’s life miserable yet willingly harms them in the worst possible way.

Wow. Everytime this subject comes up the posts get creepy & graphic.
The original subject was health, political correctness, & freedom of choice I think. You have the freedom to make certain choices but you may pay for them with your health.
“Nuff said.

@Lady Cygnus, I hope you don’t think I was criticizing what you said.  I know Pat wasn’t taking a swipe at gay men.  It’s perfectly valid to point out the health risks of the active homosexual lifestyle.  I just think this subject is a very volatile one.  Hearts that are wounded can be hardened with sarcasm or softened with love.  Or as my mother always said, “you attract more flies with honey than vinegar.”  We are in a culture war.  We will win it with the golden rule.  As for anybody here who is of the more puritanical mindset concerning issues of *monogamous* marital practices, my mother had a saying for that too:  “If you can’t take the heat in the kitchen, stay out of the kitchen”.

It’s also important to note that persons in a one-man-one-woman marriage, and perhaps some couples in a sacramental marriage, practice anal sex.  Mr. Archbold’s editorial should not exclude the fact that married couples also commit sodomy regardless of the Church’s position on that activity within marriage.
