12 Awesome Fake Twitter Responses to the Ordain Ladies Vid

Friday, January 04, 2013 1:09 PM Comments (15)

This video on wymen's ordination is making the rounds but Matthew and I, as a service to our beloved readers planned to scour the twitter machine and gather responses from major religious leaders to this unforgettable video. But Golden Corral had an all-you-can-eat shrimp from 12-1 so instead we just made them up to save time.

Here's the video and then below it you can see the twitter responses.

Too funny, fellas!
I like the Al Sharpton address: “ITawanaBeMe”
“Be of good cheer!” (John 16:33)

Or maybe a few tweets from Jesus, @SonOfGod:
“What part of ‘Twelve dudes, no dames’ don’t you get?”
“Really? Dissing my man, Paul? You sure you wanna go there, ladies?”
“What part of ‘Girls can’t be the daddy’ don’t you understand?”

Be of good cheer! (John 16:33)

Great one!  The best was “Was this made by the Archbolds?”

Okay, so I thought the tweets were kinda dumb when I read through them…and then I watched the video. If this is the state of the women’s ordination movement, I’m not worried.

Ahhhhhh….can’t unhear!

Girl#1:  Do you really think we should put in the lyrics Don’t listen to Saint Paul?
Girl#2:  Well, it rhymes.
Girl#1: Okay…cool!

LOL! Wow, talk about shooting yourself in the foot!...or cutting off your nose to spite your face…or whatever. I watched the whole thing thinking it had to be a parody because it couldn’t possibly be serious, right? Right? Wow, I was wrong. Yes, Catholic male priesthood: Patriarchal injustice to women everywhere. Not to mention all those men who feel the matriarchal injustice of having no wombs, or not being allowed to be Nuns. Gosh, What Was God Thinking? Gender roles? Nah…it’s not where the Church is headed.  After watching that video I *totally* want a bitter woman priestess with a huge chip on her shoulder and general hatred (or at least deep suspicion) of all things male leading my parish! Sounds GREAT!

Funny, poking fun at this is kind of like whistling past the graveyard.  Women priests, Same sex marriage, contraception… things that will never be socially popular with church members. Oh, wait.

Sins and easy answers will never be popular! Oh, wait.

Well, it’s not a perfect mashup at all, but I think I managed to make the Ordain a Lady video a bit more watchable (and made the Internet a little cooler at least)… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9gPkd7gtLE

“@gimmestuff” for Sandra Fluke - hahaha!

Trying to get this through my thick head.  This is NOT parody?  Are you SURE?

- tacky vestments
- fattish college age girls in schoolgirl plaids
- schoolgirls and “priestesses” shakin’ it!
- dancing ON a labyrinth
- “mommy” pope??  rly?
- overall very bad cinematography (my 15yo daughter does better for her high school video class)
- the lyrics would require their own topic, don’t have the time, rly bad tho

Who is the intended audience for this piece?  Are you sure it’s not a parody?

I’m with rigger.  This can’t be real.

OMG!  It is!  From their own website: Take Action!  *NEW* Watch and Share the VIDEO “Ordain a Lady”!

This is actually a pretty catchy tune, but does seem to be a parody (which it is apparently not).  First, I’d like to thank these video folks for finally incenting me to read The Story of a Soul.  I’m sure I’ll find no connection between the “ordain women” club and the book.  Second, I have so, so many questions, but here are just a couple of about some of the lyrics:

(1)  The singer says she “needs to give this a whirl,” meaning what?  To try out being a priest to see what it’s like?  To get “it” out of her system?  To experiment?

(2)  What is meant by “with women priests in my life, I was so glad, I miss them so bad” and “...we want our church back.”  Huh?  Were there ever women priests during this kid’s lifetime?  She wants her church back from what or who?  What the heck is she talking about?

As mentioned, I thank the video folks for getting me to read Therese de Lisieux’ story.  However, they seem kind of young and immature to really know much about anything, so I will pray for them.

Shame on these women for putting up this video, ordain a lady !!!!! no thanks. Jesus chose the apostles ((Which were all MEN!!! GET IT THROUGH YOUR HEAD WOMEN CAN NOT BE PRIESTS.
