Yes, Virginia, You’ve Been Betrayed

I’m reminded of the editorial that appeared in The (New York) Sun in 1897, titled, Is There a Santa Claus? In answer to the question of eight-year-old Virginia O’Hanlon, the editor, Francis Pharcellus Church, wrote a long response letter in which appeared the famous reply, “Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus.”

Church, in effort not to dash the little girl’s hopes gave a beautiful philosophical explanation for our belief in jolly old St. Nick. He pointed to the human yearning for faith, hope, love, beauty and joy as the means by which Santa Claus exists.

The tables are turned now. Across the country, there are hundreds of thousands of young women hoping that the fantasy that’s been told to them is real: Planned Parenthood is the Santa Claus of reproductive health.

They have been betrayed.

Since 1916, Planned Parenthood has been duping women (and men) into thinking that contraception, abortion, and it’s teachings on sex and sexuality will guarantee their freedom. On the contrary, it enslaves them to narcissism and sinfulness.

The Santa Claus of reproductive health has betrayed those it claims to serve by selling the body parts of aborted babies gleaned from the wombs of misinformed women.

Videos recently released by the Center for Medical Progress have proven otherwise. The first three of what is promised to be more than a dozen undercover videos have shown Planned Parenthood doctors, directors, and administrators delineating the grotesque mutilation of aborted babies for the sake of selling their organs to biotechnology firms.

Dear Virginia, Santa Claus is not who you want to believe he is.

Immediately after the release of the first two CMP videos, more than 80 members of the House of Representatives introduced a bill that would immediately de-fund Planned Parenthood, H.R. 3134, the Defund Planned Parenthood Act of 2015.The bill would promptly stop all sources of Federal funding to Planned Parenthood and its affiliates for a one year period.

At the grassroots level, women and men throughout the United States are stepping forward to make their voices heard against the atrocities of Planned Parenthood. They want to reveal the truth behind the lies and help women to understand that they have been betrayed.

As part of the effort, Student for Life has initiated the #WomenBetrayed campaign, a series of rallies taking place in cities around the United States on July 28. The rallies are meant to raise awareness of the real motives behind Planned Parenthood’s agenda and to call for the immediate defunding of the organization.

According to the group’s website:

“The abortion giant claims they care about women but they don’t – just look at their actions.  Planned Parenthood gets over $500 million a year in our taxpayer money and makes more than $100 million in profit, all while having abortion quotas. The organization has been caught covering up statutory rapedouble-billing taxpayers, aiding and abetting sex traffickers, scheduling sex-selective abortions and accepting money to abort African American children.”

The rallies have taken place in at least 50 US cities, according to Brietbart. The initiative’s hashtag, #womenbetrayed, is making its way throughout social media.

This, I hope, is just the beginning.

I think it’s time to open the huge sack of the Santa Claus of reproductive health so that all can see the packages filled with lies and empty promises. The insides of some of those packages will display aborted babies – some still alive in partial birth abortions - whose organs have been harvested for monetary gain. Others will show the devastation left in abortions wake, the years of depression, guilt, and misery for women and men alike. All of this will point to the dire need to close down Santa’s “toy shop.”

Yes, Virginia, you’ve been betrayed.
