Making Abortion Clinics Safer is Unsafe. What?!

A bill to increase state regulations of abortion clinics is causing all sorts of crazy testimony from those opposing the bill at the state capitol in Nebraska.

The Judiciary Committee heard testimony on a bill that would require abortion clinics be defined as ambulatory surgical centers.

As Greg Schleppenbach of the Nebraska Catholic Conference says, abortion clinics must be equipped for emergencies. Makes sense, right? Oh but wait, the Nebraska Catholic Conference is anti-abortion so that's why they're actually supporting these measures, right? That's what's often said. But the two don't necessarily follow. In fact, it's quite logical that a group such as the Nebraska Catholic Conference that teaches about the sacredness of all human life aims to protect the life of babies as well as women. The Catholic Church doesn't have ulterior motives in its teachings.

We're often told that the Church is only pro-life because they want more babies to grow up to give donations to the Church. But then we're also told that the Church is making a big mistake by being so vehemently pro-life because it's chasing Catholics away into the accepting arms of the Episcopalians who seemingly anything but orthodoxy. So which is it?

Now, on the other hand, wouldn't it be logical to also say that the group, namely the abortionists, that doesn't care about the life of little humans doesn't care all that much about bigger humans, namely women. But their arguments boggle the mind. Planned Parenthood of the Heartland's Mike Falkstrom reportedly said the bill could "pose a risk to women's health." Hello? What? A bill to make clinics safer will make them less safe? Think of the logic here. What they're really saying is that it will cost money to make the clinics safer and therefore abortion will be less profitable and abortuaries may close because it's not as profitable and therefore women will not be able to find an abortion clinic.

Anyway, could we just stop the dishonesty please? Abortion clinics don't want to become safer for women because it costs money and money is what this is all about. The whole canard about women's rights is just smoke and mirrors to keep people marching. But it's the money that makes politicians march in lockstep. And they talk about it being a rights issue because talking about dead babies isn't really a vote-getter. So, according to that logic, we should just leave abortion clinics unsafe, unregulated, and dirty because an unsafe, unregulated, and dirty abortion clinic is better than no abortion clinic. Soooo...really what the abortion supporters are arguing for is a return to the unregulated back alleys? Wow. Things have come full circle, huh? Or maybe they never left.
