I'm not normally a man of few words…

But when I see this:

...and read this, I have only one thing to say to my fellow Catholics about the Obama Administration:

RESIST THE TYRANT!

Mark how about: “vote the tyrant back out.”
Or maybe: “Change we didn’t want”
Or: “Cope”

Mark how about those famous posters with the word:
“Cope”

The time is now to make a firm stand and refuse to follow the mandate.  Every Catholic institution, whether it be a hospital, school/university, or social service, agency must say “NO” and be prepared to eliminate health insurance coverage for their employees.  We must call the Obama administration on this and the administration needs to back off.

Bill Jones, this mandate has nothing to do with whether or not Church-related organizations receive federal monies. This mandate is being imposed on ALL employers, regardless of their relationship to the federal government. That’s partly why the lack of an exemption is so onerous.

But I personally wish the bishops would have been stronger on this and opposed ObamaCare on the principle that the government cannot force everyone to buy something just because we happen to exist.

Those of us who are libertarian (Catholic AND parents) have been resisting the tyrants for years. Big government doesn’t get bigger in a vacuum.  It gets bigger by infringing on all our individual rights.  It was only a matter of time before they sought to trounce our religious liberties, too.  For most people in government “service” today, our religious beliefs are just an impediment to their grand schemes for the progress of society.  What I regret is that too many people don’t care about the preservation of liberty until the government comes after whatever particular liberty those people happen to care about.  (e.g. where was the Catholic (universal) Outrage when it became obvious that Priests in Alabama have become subject to arrest for being a good samaritan to aliens)  Like the saying says, There’s no such thing as being a little bit pregnant,” there is no such thing as a little bit of liberty.  Either you have it, or you don’t.  I want my children to live a society that understands the importance of liberty.  It is vitally important.

Message rejected, trying again:

We need to hear this from our pastors! Every week in our bulletins there should be information on how we can make a difference all week long.
If the bishops had taken steps to remove such people as Carol Keehan & Co., this assault on our freedoms wouldn’t be happening now.
There is one way to stop this madness . . .  defeat BO in November!
And he calls himself a constitutional lawyer!

That is the first time I have ever seen the archbishop scowl.

In our taxes though we pay for things we don’t agree with morally and yet NT scripture says “pay taxes to whom taxes are due”.... and Christ said at that time “render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s” ....while I’m sure Caesar was doing some wrong things.  Is this area different because the Church picks Humana or United Health which are private?

They’re forcing you to buy a product for which Planned Parenthood is the primary distributor.

At best, this is merely a kickback scheme for a primary campaign contributor, but the ulterior motive is to attack the church.

I’m not sure what Sibelius’ axe is, but she’s grinding it hard…

Mark, your restraint is admirable. I can think of shorter phrases but they would require “expletive deleted”.

Dear fellow Catholics. The hour is getting closer for us to be heading to jail and to suffer persecution. Let us pray that when the time comes we won’t cave in. Let us be the “good and loyal servants” that the Lord wants us to be. No servant can be more than his Master. We need to increase attendance to Eucharistic Adoration througout the country.

Had enough?  Prove it you Catholic Democrats who are responsible for all of these attacks on the unborn all these years,  and now on the born, as well, with the death panel in Obamacare that the bishops were so supported of so long, and now even the Church itself.  Prove you are Catholic and had enough - register out of the Democrat Party and stop voting for any of them - they’re all the same no matter what they say about “prolife.”  And I’m talking to you bishops and clergy as well who think the Democrat Party is for the “little guy.”  Go “Independent” and write your Democrat Congress members and telling what you did.  Don’t “resist,” REVOTE!  Revote for spiritual reasons, not political.  If you’re a real Catholic who believes the words you speak in the Profession of Faith and the Lord’s Prayer, then that is spiritually reason enough to speak from the pulpit about revolting and abandoning the false Democrat Party

Does Sebelius attend Mass, or belong to a parish? If so, I want to see some action from her priest and bishop.

I’m still livid over this mandate.  Nothing says compassion like President Obama telling the Sisters of St. Francis (insert any religious institution providing aid), “Stop helping the poor and sick until you buy sterlizations and artificial birth control pills.”

Well said, stilbelieve, Cardinal-elect Dolan, and Mr. Shea.  It is time to unite and fight for our religious liberties.

stilbelieve, you are 10)% correct.  No Catholic should support the Democratic Party that ties itself to abortion and this ongoing assult on religious freedom.  If you are pro abortion, hard to claim to be Catholic.  If you are pro life, hard to make any sense of voting for the party of abortion.  In fact, if people who claim to be pro life and in the past have supported the party of abortion would end that support with strong letters to both the party of death and to the local paper, legal abortion in this country would end and millions of babies would be saved.  The party could no longer continue its support of abortion and judges would be voted in who would reverse Roe.  It is that simple.  Then we can move to look at other Catholic teaching issues we agree and if either party is out of line, make our voice heard.

For those who think voting third party is the right way to go, if you do not realize that this is a vote for abortion and the democrats if your candidate is pro life, please wake up.

I’m not known to be of few words either, Mark.  But when I heard Obama this morning say that women need abortion so we can “fulfill our dreams,”  all I could think of was the word, “MOLOCK!”

It would make quite a statement if all of the bishops in this country appeared in Washington together stating that they are ready to be arrested rather than agree to Obama’s draconian dictates concerning this issue.  Perhaps it’s time for the bishops to lead their flocks in civil disobedience.

Wow! Yes we must resist the President of death. Barak Obama stands for the death of unborn children, the death of marriage as it has always been defined and the possible death of the free enterprise system.

Some good comments above about urging people who claim to be catholics to leave the baby-killer party (aka democrats). But when the republicans controlled the congress in the 90s, social programs were cut and the issue of abortion was not addressed. Makes you think all they care about is the money, a claim against them well substantiated. Still, not voting for our own wallets would be a step in the right direction.

Guess I will have to give up the practice of medicine. If I don’t perscribe abortifacients and birth control pills, I will have my licence rescinded anyway.

Who the HELL does O’Bama think he is???  Did he give the Pope a courteous call too?  As far as Kathleen Sebelius goes I will pray that God have mercy on her soul.  It is a a disgrace that she calls herself Catholic.

What can you expect after 50 years of watering down of the Catholic faith by those who are to lead and teach the faith? It is time to start excommunicating politicians who support heretical views and doctrines that are not of the Church. It is time to purge the Church. It is time for black and white. You are either with Christ and His Church or you are not. A smaller, purer Church is needed to draw people back to the truth.

Deb:

Perhaps, instead of taking this time to urge the launch of a self-destructive pogrom against fellow Catholics, it would be wise if pure Catholics such as yourself actually addressed themselves to, oh, I don’t know, maybe the enemy who is attacking the Church?  Catholics who want to apostatize and join in the attack are free to do so.  Those who stay and fight alongside their fellow Catholics against this assault should be welcomed, not subjected to ideological purity tests from self-anointed combox bishops.

To the person asking about whether Sibelius’ priest and bishop had done anything: Yes, the bishop in Kansas told her she should not present herself to receive Communion until such time as she changesstatements and actions, and Cardinal Wuerl in DC has stated that he will follow the directives of her home bishop.  To my knowledge, this has had no affect on her behavior.  It seems she’s all about the worldly power.  “What does it profit a man to gain the world and lose his soul?”  We must pray she has a profound change of heart, so that she never finds out about that ‘false profit’.

My effort to resist- I emailed my thoughts to my congressman and to President Obama at the White House.  It basically said this:

President Obama,
I have a conscience.  I am Catholic.
I resent my Insurance Company and all Catholic/Christian health care agencies being told that in a year they have to provide contraception free of charge. Contraception is against our reigious practices/beliefs.

Furthermore, I feel that you are exercising religious favoritism by allowing an exemption for Muslims, but not Christians and Catholics.  If anything, it shows efforts towards population control, of people of varying religious beliefs.  That is wrong.

Please reconsider your effort to take away the free will of Americans to exercise their consciences.

Jan. 24th, I was at the Cardinal elect’s Mass in Washington and was surprised at the brevity of his homily…we do have to resist the ‘tyrant’...we have to resist all who support and/or advocate for abortion in any way. So why are we saying ‘resist the tyrant’ on the one hand and on the other hand indicating that abortion is not such a grave issue because those ‘Catholic’ politicians who aggressively support and pursue a pro-abortion agenda are considered by their Bishops to be Catholics in good standing and allowed to receive the Eucharist - Joe Biden is not only a Catholic but he belongs to the Knights of Columbus…Pope John Paul II, Pope Benedict, Cardinal Burke and others have declared unequivocally that Catholic politicians who PUBLICLY support and advance the abortion agenda are not to present themselves to receive the Eucharist and yet - they do.  So where do we go from here? Abortion is either a grave evil, a grave sin -or it isn’t?

So where do we go from here?

I can’t say for certain florin… but you might want to hang on tight.  This ride is about to get very *bumpy*...

Mark,
I have been working against the enemy that is attacking the Church. I welcome any and all Catholics, wherevere they are in their faith journey to walk beside me in that fight.  The truth is that Obama and his ilk are able to pass laws like the one we are fighting because Catholics voted them into office. They did that because of the watered down faith they have been handed by Bishops and clergy for the last fifty years. Were not nuns leading the rally to pass this crap legislation? Are our Bishops united in the doctrines of the Catholic faith. I don’t know how “pure” I am. I was confirmed into the Church in 2008, but I do know that pretending that we are not as responsible as other faiths and secular society for what we are now fighting is just hiding our heads in the sand. If now is not the time to purify the Church, when do you suggest? Maybe we can wait until our being allowed to worship becomes illegal and then we will see who will fight and who will run.

The Mark of the Beast.  That’s what we’re talking about here.

Deb:

The purification of the Church starts with me and you, not with rooting out fifth columnists and subjecting them to a pogrom.  The means of purification are prayer, fasting, and almsgiving as we shall soon undertake during Lent.  The Church does not need us to save it.  It has a Savior and he is competent to do the job.  Our task is to do the works of mercy.  He will take care of the rest.

True, but as long as pro-death democrats (Pelosi, Biden, Sebelius, etc.) can claim the mantle of Catholicism, the Church will lack the moral authority to impact our political culture.

I wish you were a man of no words.

Hey Mark,

A quick question: what is the “or else” that is being threatened against religious objectors to the HHS mandate? What are the consequences? Or would it even be possible to choose plans that don’t violate our conscience?
