I Am Pro-Life.

It is a sad day in American history. So many lives lost.

But I see hope in the scores of Americans who visibly oppose Roe v. Wade and work to make America pro-life.

Like the 12-year-old from Colorado we featured.

And the countless others we profile regularly in the pages of the Register and online here.

Many people are marching and participating in other pro-life events this weekend, including online, to show their support for life.

See our coverage here.

And stay tuned on Monday as we report from D.C.’s March for Life.

I am reminded of some of the bold voices who speak for the voiceless:

“The right of the child is equal to the right of the mother’s life. The doctor can’t decide; it is a sin to kill in the womb.” ~St. Gianna Beretta Molla, pro-life mother and doctor

“The greatest destroyer of love and peace is abortion, which is war against the child. The mother doesn’t learn to love, but kills to solve her own problems. Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching its people to love, but to use any violence to get what they want.” ~Blessed Mother Teresa

“To be Catholic means to be pro-life.” So said then-Bishop J. Peter Sartain (now archbishop of Seattle) at last year’s March for Life.

“Let me tell you why I believe abortion is the crucial issue of our age. First, because abortion, too, is about living within the truth. The right to life is the foundation of every other human right. If that right is not inviolate, then no right can be guaranteed. Or to put it more bluntly: Homicide is homicide, no matter how small the victim.” ~Archbishop Charles Chaput of Denver

“Love of justice, the protection of life from conception to its natural end, respect for the dignity of every human being are to be upheld and witnessed, even against the current: The fundamental ethical values are the common patrimony of universal morality and the basis of democratic coexistence.” ~Pope Benedict XVI

“To be actively pro-life is to contribute to the renewal of society through the promotion of the common good.” ~Pope John Paul II

And as Dr. Seuss put it: “A person’s a person, no matter how small.”

Who are your pro-life heroes, and what are your favorite quotes for life? How are you praying for and working to support life?

There is so much work to do to help the unborn. But we can do it. Together.
